there are few songs that work better acoustic, Everlong for instance, but the idea that acoustic automatically means better is silly

 

Down south we call em "gutstring" guitars and that ain't a good thing

I'm from Texas and we're covered in a sea of steel string guitars, it just feels so boring compared to listening to a good guitarist mess around with a nylon

I don't dislike steel string acoustics, I mean the only guitar I have right now is one. But nylon is so refreshing

Yeah well you guys also think that BBQ beef is better than BBQ pork so what the fuck do yall know really

I'm vegetarian now but that's still just fucked up to me as someone who grew up by Memphis

 

I love both, have no preference either way. They both fit different moods.

 

All I'm saying is I know several people from Texas who claim that if it isn't dry rubbed beef it isnt bbq

 

Makes sense, yeah I definitely include pork in the conversation of BBQ but what I WILL say though is that beef in sauce is fucking heresy

If it's beef it has to be dry rub but pork is very good too either way

Also yeah BBQ is a big point of contention here in NC my father is currently constructing a pig-cooler for a BBQ contest and he is like taking it super seriously at one point he said to me "son my entire reputation is at stake"

He is also quite ashamed to have a son that is vegetarian he's more ashamed of that than when I came out as bi

I love the South for so many reasons, and now that I live in Indiana most of the year (after growing up in MS & KY) I do miss a lot of things about it. But there are also so many things about the South that appall me, and the sad part is that a lot of those appalling things are a lot easier to find outside the South as well than the good things about the South are. If that makes any sense.

Short version: the weather and the food and everything else sucks in Indiana and there's just as much bigotry here as in the Deep South, and probably more than in Louisville, where I'd lived for the last several years.

 

yeah honestly while i have several issues with the south and specifically the area i live in here in NC, i dont think ill ever move because, and i believe Julien Baker said this in an interview, if everyone leaves whos going to fix these issues? Theres merit to dismantling the idea that the south is nothing but angry old racists spitting tobacco of their front porches, theres potential and theres genuinely good people living here that are more socially conscious than would sterotypically be depicted. of course there are also confederate flag waving transphobic sexist and homophobic nut jobs as well but ive also come to realize that its not just an isolated incident here in the south. bigotry knows no borders
