It still makes me wince even if it is and I get that that's more a me problem than a Billie problem. Same when he says the F slur or the N word (although that one really does bother me more than the others) so yeah

Glad you're here I always enjoy your posts you make me laugh and also educate

I want to chime in to this specific topic and mention that once I was moving and as a result driving a Uhaul and listening to the radio on a long trip, and "Holiday" came on and they didn't censor "***"

And the very next song was "The Next Episode" by Dre and they censored Snoop saying "swinging my hair"

Imagine writing off most of a genre deeply rooted in black culture in favor of a bunch of fucking white dudes.

This isn't the fucking 50s and 60s anymore. Stop dismissing a platform used to promote black culture by shining the light on white folk and get a grip.

It seems more of a case whether you're on the side that uses the word as a reclamation or the side that refuses to use the word. Personally, you and I share that the sentiment. The word gets to me, and I will never say the word. The same can be said about the word "queer". I identify as such, but would never call anyone else that unless I know their personal feelings toward the word. The historical impact of both words are tied to them. It's just whether or not you've reclaimed them.

I agree with Ken, even knowing Billie's intentions, it just is way uncomfortable to hear. Definitely struck me as odd at 13, still wildly uncomfortable now

    how ya been

yeah that makes sense. i guess for Billie hes reclaimed it, although in his defense i dont think ive ever heard him say that word since, but like you said for us its just a little too harsh to hear. "Queer" is an interesting term because while I also identify as it I also recognize its a pejorative, particularly here in the south I hear it a lot in a negative connotation, its just the colloquialism I've seen used by many people and organizations. But yeah I totally agree, this was a real good post.

not sure if this counts but bands have to stop with the teasing, take as long as you need to release music Paramore and Haim but don't drag it along for weeks, just be like yo new song and album info today, I hate surprises

since There is a Hell... they've been pretty solid. one of the weirdest maturations i've seen in music, they completely left all of their genre compatriots behind

ok so like. enough people have ripped into you, pretty justifiably, for this. so i just wanna hear why you think hip hop was not funny prior to Lonely Island, and also why hip hop has to be funny to value its message and artistry

agreed. i think it's his name, it annoys me a lot

wait were you star slight. i forget if i knew that or not

This thread is poppin tonight so I'll post this here in the hopes of getting people to participate. I'm a teacher and my school year is winding down. I teach a journalism class and we're getting into reviews/criticism and I thought it would be fun to give them a song project.

Hot take: I think Travis Barker overplays on most of his songs.

Also hot take: I don't think Travis Barker is that good of a drummer, at least as far as Blink goes

Not sure how outrageous this view is: the version of "Digital Age" on Imbue is miles better than the original off of In Currents. Also, I hate the version included on In Currents.

Going off the above, here's my possibly controversial take: I much prefer plugged in to acoustic. I don't know what it is but acoustic songs just do nothing for me aside from a few special occasions. Idk if it's because there's such a saturation of acoustic music or because it's always been on the radio since I can remember.

I'm not insanely picky about it but I will say as far as tone preferences go:

Nylon acoustic (classical guitars etc) > Clean electric > Steel string acoustic
