From the left-wing people I've spoken to, that's the plan. The other component of it is, if the democrats get in power, the push is going to be to make them get it done through reconciliation, rather than a vote that is subject to a filibuster.

How the Medicaid cuts will introduce some personal responsibility to school districts in how they fund services for their special education students.

 

Honestly not sure how a single payer system gets done through reconciliation, but then again, the ACA did....I really have not much of an idea of how the Senate rules work there.

This coupled with the potential harm DeVos could do to special education programs, is inhumane. What a war for Reps to fight, against special education children.

 

Can I say that I think calling it "Medicare for All" rather than "universal healthcare" or something similar was a genius stroke of branding? Linking it to something that most people already like makes it harder for critics to deride it as bad-word "Socialism." They'll still do it, of course, it just makes them look even more rhetorically dishonest. It's a lot harder to dog-whistle socialism when you're speaking against something every senior citizen in the country gets already.

If you say "personal responsibility", a huge chunk of the country says "yeah, that's right!"

If you, as Jimmy Kimmel did, say babies will not be able to afford being alive when they could be saved, people will notice that it's fucked.

Communism = Evil Russia, Socialism = Free Stuff, Democratic Socialism = Hey this free stuff comes from our money, some dumb future name like Equalism or something = Ok everyone stops thinking rich people need tax cuts while the poor are systematically murdered for trying to exist

Control the terminology, control the popular opinion.
