In the theatrical cut there is no mention of anything regarding Ripley's past.

Aliens is good but I still do not fuck with those who tell you it is better than its predecessor and I am defiant in that regard.

Alien is a moody horror movie while Aliens is an action flick with monsters.

Yeah, they're totally different films, for one thing. But furthermore, Alien was way different from what we had seen in horror before, while Aliens was not strictly new ground for action (just very well executed action).

I must have seen the director's cut or read about it then because I knew that about her. Unless it got mentioned it Alien 3? Still annoyed with what they did to Newt in that one. Freaking epic Aliens battle for her life reduced to 2 seconds of exposition of "she died lol"

Any time "sequel surpassed original" comes up I think of the discussion in Scream 2. No real point to this post, just felt like sharing.

Might be alien 3, that film is notorious for the differences between Fincher's vision and what the studio forced him to put out.

Plus the girl that played Newt ever went on to do anything else, that might be why they killed her off.

  14. I watched A Dark Song. I enjoyed the slow burn and the tension built throughout but was not into the payoff, so overall the movie didn't work for me.

I know I talk about it 80 percent of the time I'm in here, but I'm heavily buzzed and if I were writing a dissertation on one horror scene I'd pick the jeep scene from Scream as my topic.

The cop car scene from Scream 2 is another one worth scholaring over

Another fantastic scene. I tried and tried to accept Scream 4 for what it was, but damnit I think Wes had one more in him. Something that went THAT hard. I know we've had loads of gore porn over the last 15 years, but I think Scream is the heaviest film of the last 30. The last 30 minutes are brutal.

Scream 4 had Adam Brody so that made me happy

I love this scene, but I just don't buy it. The characters, though likable, were just too damn pretty and flawless. They felt more real to me in 1.

Edit: I think culkin was the most believable.

definitely! the kids in 1 looked (for the most part) like real, regular people in their teens. they looked, sounded and acted like real people, like my cousins, like actual friends and people who knew each other. i think the undercurrent of their interactions and how "real" they are is an underrated component to what makes Scream so fantastic.

Exactly! This is my biggest problem with 4 and the series. Like, they lack all relatability.
