I def don't deny that...I think from the beginning my point was that I wasn't going to take it easy on them in a hypothetical discussion if the topic of them voting for Trump came up. I'd be pretty harsh about the decision, for sure. But I definitely wouldn't try to persuade them to vote for a leftist (or a moderate for that matter) by saying "look, you're an idiot for voting for Trump". I'd focus on the 'positive' side of the discussion, or the reasons why a vote for someone who isn't a right winger would be better, etc....

What I can't promise is I won't get frustrated with them if they do the same thing my right wing friends do when we talk politics and just completely ignore all reason and factual arguments lol. Like if the issues go beyond the left's inability to talk about islam and it's problems effectively and bleed into highly Americanized views like "bootstraps" and american exceptionalism, it could go south fast...

Yeah I read that thread when you posted it, it makes a lot of sense, it's still such a frustrating mindset. It's hard to convince immigrants that many times they 'made it' despite American values, and not because of them.
