Favorite video game IP ever. I've got a copy of every Zelda release, most complete in box, outside of the CD-I stuff and some remakes.

Here's a bit more of what I collect:

It's crazy to me that just the BOX with no game cartridge goes for crazy amounts of money for some games.

Yep, especially for the NES/SNES/Sega stuff. Even the Game Boy stuff is ridiculous. Boxed copies of Pokemon Red/Blue go for $50-60 these days, and even the GBA remakes aren't cheap - $60+ easy totally complete, and if it's just the box only it's usually like $20-30 for the box alone. Stupid.

Speaking of retro game stuff, are there any stores you all frequent that sell retro games?

Mine's this one: Matt's Game Exchange Current & Retro Video Game Retailer

In Houston there are a few that I go to; Gameover Videogames, Replay Games, but my favorite is probably GamesPlus even though it's a drive to get there.

My friend bought me a Retron for Christmas so I've been hitting them up more often.

Firewatch was nuts, as well as The Wolf Among Us which I finally finished.

    Platinum number four!

I played the first two hours of MGS4 today and I can already see myself potentially liking it more than MGS5. The problem with MGS5 is the environments become so boring because of how often you have to go to the same bases over and over again. I think they made a huge mistake making it open world and stripping it of an interesting story. The game mechanics are awesome but unfortunately they're wasted on a boring game...

Another Houstonian! What's up man?! Never visited Gameover Videogames but I've seen the one off 1960 pretty regularly and wasn't sure how it worked or what they have.
What did you think of the ending of Firewatch?

How do you find the prices in your area as compared to eBay? Ours as basically just under most eBay things. I think the market is getting ready to calm down about on some of these games that shouldn't be super pricey that are.

There's a good read about the whole thing here: Retroware TV State of Retro-game Collecting

MGS4 is such a better game than Phantom Pain. I found it more compelling. I love a good single player campaign - online multiplayer rarely interests me (unless it's something like Smash Bros). I found the overall presentation in 4 really well done, too.

Hey! What's up? Gameover is definitely worth a look if you're a fan of older games. They have shelves of games ranging from Atari to more recent consoles. Most lack boxes but, that makes them cheaper as a result.

Chrono Trigger is my favorite game ever. Nice collection. Unfortunately, yes, I only have the cartridge for CT because I'm an idiot.

Honestly I found that most prices tend to be at or a little above what you would pay on eBay. If you want cheaper games you definitely have to get further away from downtown, but I don't know if this is a unique issue with Houston or not.

MGS4 definitely seems more compelling so far, will dive into it some more tomorrow. I think MGS5 would have been better if it had consisted of 12-15 levels, each around the size of the one in Ground Zeroes. That way you'd still kind of have an open world game, just on a much smaller scale, which I think would work much better for a Metal Gear Solid game than what we ended up with.

Also, I don't need to see opening credits every time I get in the chopper lol.

Hahaha! Well, what you see there is the super famicom version of CT. But I do have the US version, and just like you, it's cart only.

Seems like that continues to be a trend in most places. I watch the Game Chasers on YouTube now and again (they live in the DFW area) and there's just not much out there anymore. Same with Pat the NES Punk's Flea Market Madness videos. Stuff is just way too pricey or hard to find.

I have a love / hate relationship with the Zelda series. I'm a huge fan of it, (own the encyclopedia), but I think the last Zelda game I truly enjoyed might've been Minish Cap. I couldn't get into the DS ones, (still need to check out Between Worlds), and felt Twilight Princess was too easy.

Minish Cap is best handheld Zelda. Links Awakening DX is a close second.

Now that you mention it, the flea market is one place I've been meaning to check out. There are a few Mexican ones that I remember having old school video game sections at pretty cheap prices.

HAHA, yeah definitely the opposite of what i was expecting. At first i was disappointed but the more i've thought about it the more i realize it was actually pretty good, definitely different that's for sure.

The ending is so brilliant when you think about the sort of story they were trying to tell and forget your preconceived notions.

I think I'm going pick up Risk of Rain today when I get home for PS4. I've got to get my oil changed and tires rotated and that's going take some time, so I'll need something to do. If the dealer has Wifi, anyone want to jam? Feel free to add me. I'll also be playing the DOOM beta this weekend as well.

Preordered the collector's edition of Uncharted 4. Also picked up Ratchet & Clank. Justified it by saying I'm getting deluxe edition of No Man's Sky for my birthday. It basically works out as me paying 40 bucks for each game. Someone tell me I made a good decision.
