I think my favorite part of the song is that synth line that kicks in towards the end. Very Daft Punk-esque

Also Jason while you're here, do you have any idea why Amazon links on here always say absolutepunk in the URL? I notice it all the time, including in here earlier today

I expected to see some dumbass shit in a Paramore thread after they released their poppiest single, but "I don't like it when people repeat the chorus" may just take the damn cake.

Literally the definition of a chorus...

Also if this is them trying to "sell out" and get in line with what's popular now, they did a shitty job of it. When was the last time you heard real drums and guitar in a Top 40 pop hit? This isn't any more poppy than the shit a lot of scene-adjacent bands were doing a decade ago (Head Automatica, Men Women and Children, Under the Influence of Giants) and you didn't hear all this wailing and gnashing of teeth then.

Max Martin one of the last great craftsmen out there in the pop game writing actual verses. The quality of verses in top 40 radio right now is DIRE. But yeah every pop writer worth his salt knows the verses matter.

Max Martin is a genius in my book. "Toxic" alone is enough to coast on for life, but he didn't stop there.

This interview made me uneasy haha. I would rather have this Paramore without the fake sheen, however. Back when things were going wrong with Josh, they were going on stage and acting like everything was fine. They did it for a long time. The fans that paid attention could tell. I could tell in meet and greet's back in '08.

It'll be interesting to see a Paramore that exposes more of the struggles of growing up. I wonder if this will also be a nostalgic album - it seems they all think a lot about the way things used to be.

Maybe I'm just like, an overprotective fan but I didn't like the tone of this at all. The direct quotes were great but something about the way the piece was written as a whole bugs me. Like the writer is trying to trick them into some "oh yeah we actually all hate each other and everything" revelation.

@kaylasananjou I agree to an extent. That's why this interview made me super uneasy. But I don't think it's complete BS because they definitely have a different tone in interviews than they used to. It does seem like he was directing the piece to mirror an overarching tone he wanted to express, however.

I'm looking forward to this release very much. As soon as they started releasing the neon bars cover, from the first piece with the gradient colours revealed, I was expecting this new wave sound, so when the video was released, I was prepared. But, what I wasn't prepared for was how much I am SOLD on this. It's the most natural progression from the Self-Titled, and 10 years loving this band, I have a new found love for them. Congratulations, Hayley, Taylor, and Zac!

I just saw a thumbnail of this image on yahoo and thought it was a Paramore photo, haha. It's Bananarama btw.

Hard Times is one of the best songs they've ever written and the exact direction I was hoping they'd go in after the self-titled. Highly anticipating After Laughter.

Kinda hoping no second single with such a short wait time before the album drops, as I love that feeling of release day discovery.

Of course if they drop another song I will 10/10 listen to it like 400 times
