I like this. I just want to see Captain Marvel and I'm glad they found a director.

Edit: Director(s). They have a male and female director. Pretty cool.

Didn't they almost have Patty Jenkins for Thor: Dark World? That would've been cool.

  10. I haven't watched 13 Reasons Why and don't plan on it, but people who call it the best show ever are so irritating. One, so many things I've read about it make it sound so problematic regarding suicide, and two, what other shows are they watching? I find it hard to believe that it's better than stuff like iZombie or Orphan Black (which aren't as popular as they should be). Maybe stop watching stupid shit like The Walking Dead (just as a random example of something that is popular) and using that trash as your gauge for what's the best that television has to offer.

I've struggled with thoughts of suicide on and off for the better part of a decade. Glorification of revenge suicide sounds terrible.

I couldn't get past the Afternoon Special vibe of 13 Reasons Why so I didn't even get to the problematic part

13 reasons why is not a great series at all haha. It's enjoyable for the tape gimmick but other than that...B show

I liked 13 Reasons and personally it helped me navigate the peak depression and self harm I experienced as a teen, but it's not like the be all end all of shows. It had a lot of flaws and I see why it can feel harmful for others. Regardless, I think it's something you have to think through before watching, espesh if you have been thru mental illness. It was a positive experience for me because I had the skills and tools as an adult to analyze my past and that was ultimately rewarding to sort of relive that and figure it out. I did feel a sense of darkness for a few days after and I could totally see how that could amplify if someone isn't in a great place, espesh if the execution or material doesn't resonate and is harmful to some already.

Like ur prob better off watching Audrie and Daisy tho

I don't know..I really enjoyed 13 Reasons in the sense that it made me reflect on my youth and some of the choices I made. I think it's heart was in the right place, but it missed the mark with its execution. I definitely agree that it glorifies suicide, but I don't think it was intentional as many believe it to be.

It is interesting to see the divisive opinions of 13 Reasons. I see a lot of "NEVER watch this if you've ever suffered from mental illness!" And "omg deepest show ever" and idk. To me it's like, figure out what ur comfortable with and then make the best decisions for your mental health and self care. I see some walk away from it And say it made them feel more suicidal (which is totally valid), but then I watched It and walked away feeling the opposite. So idk. My criticisms were more about the dialogue and teen tropes and some themes that should've been elaborated more.

I did hear my little sister reference the show when making an offhand comment about consent so I thought that was cool.

  18. I still (binge) watch TWD whenever there's a premiere or (mid-)season finale. My problem is with the people who think it's the best because they never bothered to look any further.

Is that James Franco? What's that from?

Semi related, my fave part if the walking dead fandom is when you say the show is boring and they're like IT'S ABOUT THE CHARACTERS AND STORY NOT NONSTOP KILLING

...but like ok let's not pretend the characters and story is great either lol. I watch the show but I mean lbr here. I know I know subjective subjective
