"The company opened up WWE Shop in India a couple of weeks ago so you can expect more Jinder Mahal and Bollywood Boyz merchandise to become available in the coming weeks. Most of it will be targeted to the fans in India."

With the recent push in the Indian market, it was only logical for WWE to do the same for their booking by making Mahal the number one contender for the WWE championship and calling up The Bollywood Boyz from NXT. How long this push will continue for remains to be seen.

Everyone freaking out about Jinder as number one contender as if he's about to headline Mania. You're all right, would be waaaaaay better to see Bray vs Randy or another totally recycled match on a C-List PPV.

I'm actually totally fine with the whole Jinder/Bollywood thing on paper. I just wish WWE didn't literally have a stake in the White House so we could get a less neutered version of the gimmick. I want Jinder calling out the crowd for electing a president that implements a Muslim travel ban. A smarter version of the Muhammad Hassan character where, ya know, the foreign guy doesn't become a terrorist and make me question why I ever supported such a company. Competent heel heat. That'd be nice.

 

I doubt Linda has anything to do with them not doing that. They're a public company and to my knowledge didn't even touch political issues that overtly when they were privately held.

Also, fwiw, India is mostly Hindu

 

The man they'd be criticizing is in their Hall of Fame and helped fund their cornerstone event into existence. They may not do it either way, but they definitely won't be making fun of this particular president.

And thanks for that, I can't even claim to know Jinder's descent, should've brushed up a bit before pitching sensitive gimmicks lol
