Sure but again that's preference. I won't harp on about it much more, but there is objective quality, even when we personally have subjective preferences. Billie Joe has a stronger voice than Mark. Prince and Adele and Frank Ocean blow both of them out of the water, even though I like Mark's voice a lot. I like Mark more than Adele, but it does not make him the better vocalist. blink-182 is my favorite band in the world. In no universe would I say they're the best band in the world.

 

I'll take one Matt Skiba over Billie Joe anyday. That's my hot take of the day.

 

There have only been like 4 good pop punk bands IMO

 

Billie>Skiba>Mark>Tom

And I prefer Dan over Skiba haha

 

STD's evolution in that short timespan really is special, and you may as well include In Reverie in there as well.

In Reverie is probably my second favorite STD album

 

I didn't even buy In Reverie when it came out. Mostly cause of their live performance, I was completely out with STD for awhile there. I liked In Reverie quite a bit when I picked it up a few years later though

 

I love that album so much. I just love the fact they actually jam on it.

 

Fun Fact: I only got into STD last year.

 

Dan will always be my favorite aha.

But in terms of pop punk I think Trio,GD,Blink and NFG might be the four best pop punk bands of all time.

In all honesty it really is. But as I got older Goddammit just falls down my list.

 

Cray. It's so good. People hated it when it came out but now I think it's widely accepted as one of the best. If anything, it's totally different from anything else they've done and that alone makes it very interesting

Add Saves the Day as a fifth and I'm fine with this

 

But what about the Ataris? Kris Row is such a great song writer.

 

But was he a great song writer for long enough? Their disography is pretty short in comparison. And I'm saying that as a huge Ataris fan

 

With all the "pop punk" bands I like, my favorite albums are the ones that are the least pop punk

 

Crimson will Always be my #1 from them, followed by Good Mourning.

 

If Saves the Day is on this list, The Ataris could too.
