Anybody have a recommendation for a task manager app? There's a ton out there and I don't have the time to play with a few. Don't need anything too fancy, calendar integration and interface most important.

Edit: @Jason Tate has Omnifocus on his list, and while a $40 app is probably the must fully-featured app available it's out of my price range...

I think the endgame here is that you pair your Airpods to your Apple Watch and then go running with that instead of your phone.

When I have iCloud Music Sharing turned on but don't want to sync all of my downloaded music from my computer to my phone, is there a way to hide those artists on my phone?

  6. Can't you just go to the "Downloaded Music" section to see just those artists?

I want to get AirPods so bad but I'm scared because the regular EarPods won't stay in my ears for longer than 5 minutes.

The AirPods fit better in my ears than the EarPods.

I use to use wunderlist but the new "reminders" app in ios10 works great.

  11. I really like 2Do on ios. I'm just waiting to get it on the Mac.

It's been on the Mac for a while I think. It's $50 though.

  13. Yeah, that price tag is what's been holding me back. I figure I can just keep using it on my iPhone lol.

I totally misread that and thought you said you were waiting for it to be on the Mac haha. My bad! But yeah, I used it briefly on iOS, but switched to the free Todoist so I could have it on all of my devices.

  15. I've been meaning to check out Todoist! Can it sync between all of your devices if you're using it for free? That's the feature that I want the most.

Yep! The yearly subscription just adds more features. I had it briefly when I had some credit for it, but haven't felt the need to pay for it. I don't really assign times for my tasks and worst case I could just put reminders in Due, since I paid a whole $5 for that app.

  17. Microsoft To-Do is the official successor to Wunderlist, the popular task management app acquired by Microsoft in mid-2015. Microsoft unveiled To-Do today in Preview, which is essentially a public beta. The service is built on Office 365 technologies, but according to ZDNet it is available to anyone with a Microsoft account; Office 365 is not required.

    Released today for those curious

Heck of an experience dropping my 2011 iMac off at the Apple Store after it began shutting off on its own. They hung onto it for nearly two weeks, and they went from saying it was the video card ($200), to saying it was the logic board ($500), to then saying it was a software issue (~$60 for labor, and this was a day after they had already called to say it was Dead). Meanwhile, they broke the camera on it somehow, and began to work on fixing that. I then received a call to say it was completely fixed and that their next call would be to tell me to come get it. Fast forward two days - today - and I get a call that goes something like, "uhh, what we want to do at this point is offer you a replacement." So, in what I feel might be considered uncharacteristic of Apple, they said they could either give me the newest baseline iMac free of charge, or give me a gift card for that amount to put toward a model with upgraded specs. I opted for the latter, and using a gift card whose valued exceeded nearly $500 of what my computer originally cost me, I just placed an order for the 27 inch iMac with i7, 16gb RAM, 2 TB HD, and AMD Radeon 4gb. I might regret not waiting for the new model expected later this year but what a fucking deal.

lol that's definitely one of those problems that could have been a few different parts acting up, but the only way to know is to just throw parts at it. Which sounds like they did, and someone fucked up taking it apart or putting it back together. There were definitely several times when one of the morons I worked with made stupid mistakes during a repair. Since it's a desktop and not a laptop they didn't have the catch-all option to send it in for repair so they waived the white flag and you get a new machine, ha.

In your case I feel like you got such a deal it's not worth waiting the probable 6 months until the new iMacs appear.

Okay, so I took the plunge yesterday and traded my Spotify subscription for Apple Music. Since Spotify was going to bump me off of the student pricing anyway, I figured now is as good as ever a time as any to give it a shot.

Overall, I really like having everything in one app, and I do feel like the Apple Music interface is more intuitive to me than Spotify was. I feel a little less scatterbrained already.

One potentially major gripe I'm going to have with it, though, is that it seems to have overridden the sorting rules I have in place in my iTunes collection, and is replacing any artwork I have added on my own with whatever artwork is in iTunes Store for that particular track, regardless of the album title I have assigned to it.

For instance, I had the artwork from the 7" single for "You Think You're John Fucking Lennon." It replaced that artwork with artwork from the Our Color Green EP. Also, I now have Gatsby's American Dream and Gatsbys American Dream sorted as two artists.

I'm a bit annoyed. I've spent years getting everything sorted in my iTunes the way I want it, and now they're just throwing that out the window. I'm pretty certain it's tied to the iCloud Music Library feature, but it looks like I'll be unable to download music to my device to listen to without using data if I turn that feature off. Anyone have any advice or workarounds on this?

I also have a lot of qualms with the iCloud Music Library. Ridiculous that you can't simultaneously use Apple Music and drag and drop from a computer. Also ridiculous that you can't have iCloud Music library on without it automatically showing every song and artist that is in your iTunes library from your computer. Others may disagree but I just think it's incredibly clumsy and full of odd design choices.

Why would you want to drag and drop from a computer when you can just download from the cloud?

  24. Yeah I don't get thay complaint at all. Not even sure what it means. What are you dragging and dropping in a music player to begin with.
