psh. BoJangles isn't even the third best fried chicken in NC.

Matt showed me the crack cocaine that is Price's Chicken Coop when i visited him in Charlotte. Man oh man nothing makes you feel as fat and happy and American as that.

and then i take Cook-Out and Zaxby's over Bojangles.

 

Cook-out beats any fast food in the country.

But shame on you for downgrading Bojangles.

I don't like BBQ and he isn't a top 10 pick sooo, nope. Hope fournette likes bojangles.

 

How can one not like BBQ food? I think its my favorite "regional" type of food.

BBQ is always good but I never crave it. Fournette is going to Jacksonville though Julez so I think you meant to say "hope Fournette likes driving unnecessary distances for chain restaurants."

lol i hate to admit it but this is so Jacksonville actually

It's funny because Jax is populated by people who 1) are in the military and either live on-base or near the base, neither of which are actually downtown 2) people whose whole families are from south Georgia or north Florida who prefer to live out in podunk flat boring country suburbs than by the city.

So you have a tiny actual urban area, that all the artists and all the shop owners know each other, and it feels more like a big-small town than a full-on city, which is where i live... but this is surrounded by tons of mega-suburbs where most of the actual population lives. And they are perfectly content to live on fake sod grass with nothing but mosquito infested pine trees in their back yard, and sit in 45 minutes of traffic to go to chain restaurants. (though if you have a boat and enjoy golfing/tennis it's probably actually not that bad.)

 

My dad lived in St Johns forever and I hated going to dinner whenever I visited. It's exactly how you describe it.

 

i still maintain that the areas near downtown are cool. Going through an arts/culture boom right now and it's nice because artists can actually afford to live here. Living in San Marco or Avondale would give a really nice taste of Florida-style living but near the city's cultural centers.

 

I just prefer to stay away from Florida in general.

 

2017 NFL Draft (and city talk) Thread

 

Most of it is trash I just live in a part of it that gets taken for granted. Which is a good thing imo. It's why rent is cheap and nothing is too crowded. Moving to an **ACTUALLY C00L** city wasn't in my budget as I had learned from previously trying to afford my music pursuits in Baltimore/DC.

 

Riverside is where I would say to go if you went to Jacksonville but nothing I'd actually praise cause it's not special outside the context of the area.

 

I've still never been to north Florida

 

I've been to Florida once....it sucked.

Granted it was Melbourne and I was there for SF Training but still....it sucked.

 

I don't mind Orlando and Tampa but st.pete, west palm, boca and the surrounding areas bore the hell out of me. Only been to Miami once and it was okay but bands don't really play there so I was bored af despite the nice area I was in.

 

Idk i think it's pretty special for craft beer and people actually caring about local music

it's not gonna have more "options" than a bigger city's art district but the love and the charm is definitely there.

 

It's as special as any other place haha.
