haha hey look im not trying to get steamrolled here. TPAB is a really fucking good album, The Blacker the Berry is like an instant timeless classic. and whether we think it's apt or not, he's pretty much gonna be an era-defining rapper i think

Yeah I really like Kendrick and have been down with him ever since Section 80 but he's certainly slightly overrated.

Linkin Park, Thrice and Story of the Year have great B-sides, even if they don't have too many.

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Some of my favorite Trio tracks are b-sides.

  10. Minus The Bear's b-side record is better than their last two official releases

I don't think I've ever heard a Deftones B-side, even though I know they have a whole B-side and Rarities album lol. Love their albums (esp the last three), no idea why I never listened to that.

STD has a really good one and the title track of that b-side collection is a top tier song of theirs.

The Smiths are the obvious "b-sides band" in that like, they thought in singles in b-sides and not really albums. Granted The Smiths albums are wonderful but their singles and b-sides are the true strength of their catalog.

The Hold Steady is another good one and I'm glad Chris mentioned them. A lot of their b-sides tell crucial moments to their overall concept story and theyre just good. The fan made b-side collection is a must own.

Thursday and The Gaslight Anthem and ETID are also bands with great b-sides but they dont hold their discographies up like the other bands I mentioned.

    This is a cool discussion!

A$AP Rocky is also overrated and not more charismatic than most rappers. Long. Live was good but not much more than that

  19. Ask any hardcore Weezer fan to list their 10 favorite tracks and at least 2 are bound to be b-sides. The quality b-sides really kept faith in that band alive during their unstoppable run of garbage records in the aughts.

Blink had some great b-sides in the TOYPAJ era and I think "Time To Break Up" is among their best, most representative songs.

Rocky still hasn't peaked, imo. Never felt a cultish love for Live.Love.A$AP like so many of his early fans do and I think he tried some really cool shit on ALLA, which is easily my favorite of his. His contributions to Cozy Tapes vol. 1 were, for the most part, fantastic. I think his next solo project will really be something special.

I disagree entirely and think if anything he's underrated for how good he actually is

But still liked the post because it's the unpopular opinions thread and this was a good one

His control of flow is solid but otherwise he seems to be pretty average to me in every regard. Lot of people say he's well liked because he's charismatic but I'm like most rappers are charismatic

I feel like he's sneaky good

Like it's almost buried in his music how good he is because (like you said) his flow does a great job at creating bangers that his lyricism itself gets underappreciated (at least on recent releases), like he wouldn't be thought of as a top tier rapper but I bet he could spar with the best of em

But yeah the charisma argument is weird for the exact reason you said

This talk of Blink having good b-sides is reminding me that they have that song Fuck A Dog from the TOYPAJ era and that is not good
