They've handled Sami's middle-east ties and religion that way, so it isn't impossible, but I agree WWE is too self -serving to book an LGBT wrestler like that.

Fuck yeah, so awesome they are getting this super heel push. This is EXACTLY how they needed to be treated.

 

No way it would happen because it would mean putting a heel in the role of a homophobic person. There's no way to come back from that if you're a wrestler. WWE may look to handle everything in a manner that is self congratulatory, but they're not dumb enough to put a wrestler in that situation at this point. Nor do I think a wrestler is dumb enough to go along with that.

Progress handles it really well with Jack Sexsmith. Plays the loveable underdog role so great, also helps he's like 5'8" 130 lbs. The couple of heels he's feuded with just really call him out for being under deserving because of his size.

I have never watched progress, but just based on what you said here, it doesn't sound like they address his sexuality in the least -- which is a good thing. The best way to utilize a gay character is to treat them as, you know, just a normal person and let them speak out on the subject if they feel comfortable.

Well he comes out in draped in a gay pride flag, his finisher is called the LGDDT, and his intro music is I Touch Myself by Divinyls, so it is acknowledged lol.
