I think Assasin's Creed is one of the most consistently good and impressive franchises of all time and 90% of the shit it gets is without merrit

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Assassins Creed has one game that I didn't like and it was 3. I greatly enjoyed every other one and can't wait to see what they're doing next

    Play the Yakuza series

They just need to start taking more care of their games and try to make them interesting for the most part, especially the SP aspect of them. R6S and FH should have had great campaigns but R6S just has Situations which act as a tutorial to some of the early operators and FH is just bland from what I saw on Youtube. The Division had such potential but it was just squandered by the amount of grinding and lack of interesting characters; I had no motivation to care at all about why I should be doing any of it really.

Haven't really delved into FC or AC though so I'm gonna draw the line there.

You'd think being such a big company they would take better care of their games but evidently profit motive has become more of a concern than making great and original games. It is sad to see but other games from other companies have shown it is more than possible which just shows there is no excuse for it.

Syndicate was very good. Fun new mechanics, great protagonists (especially Evie), I thought it was the best AC since Brotherhood, honestly.

I might give it a try at some point but I think the cut and paste kind of worlds that their free roam games have become has just generated fatigue in me wishing to play them.

That issue is still there but the cool gang-oriented story and just being in Victorian London kind of made up for that. It was a setting I've been hoping for since AC2, though, so I'm probably biased.

It is a setting I would like to try in a game as well just wish they did something completely different to the prior games as I have gone from looking forward to a new AC game to now no longer caring through lack of innovation.

I have mixed opinions on Ubisoft. Rayman Legends is fantastic and the best game I've played from them. I also remember enjoying Far Cry Instincts a lot back in the day, but I haven't played that in over a decade now lol. I didn't like Far Cry 4 at all from what little I played of it, it just felt really boring so I gave up. I liked the original Watch Dogs a fair amount, but I think that has more to do with the fact it was released during a really good time in my life so I think nostalgia kinda clouds my judgement a bit with that one. Watch Dogs 2 was decent enough I guess, but I never felt compelled to finish it. The only Assassin's Creed game I've played is Unity, so I should probably give them another go at some point, as I'm pretty sure that's now considered one of the worst ones by fans of the series? I really didn't like it tho so the other ones would have to be significantly better for me to enjoy them.

Finished most of Among The Sleep last night. Just have the Prologue DLC and collectibles to finish. Really interesting FP adventure game.

@Vivatoto I think you'd enjoy it. Got some real horror moments. Reminded me of The Park quite a bit. A little longer than that though.

Get the Ezio collection if you want to play the best Assassin's Creed has to offer.

I was the biggest Ubisoft fanboy from 2002 until around 2010.

2002 - Splinter Cell, and it was amazing. Great stealth game.

2003 - Rainbow Six 3, and it was a great tactical shooter and great mp.

Ghost Recon Island Thunder, and it was an amazing tactical shooter.

2004 - Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow and Ghost Recon 2, both amazing.

Also published Far Cry and that was amazing

2005 - Splinter Cell Chaos Theory - Best stealth game ever and my favorite game if all time.

Rainbow Six Lockdown - it was okay, not the best, but still fun.

2006 - Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, still a tactical shooter and one of my favorite launch titles, but Ubisoft still made it a bit casual, but it was still hardcore and tactical at its core.

Splinter Cell Double Agent - it was okay. Still splinter cell at its core, but added done dumb casual shit like Regen health.

Rainbow Six Vegas - it was great even though it was a bit more casual.

Splinter Cell Conviction and Blacklist are basically gears of war clones imo.

Ghost recon future soldier was a trash fire.

At least I like watch dogs and far cry.

I know people say that but those games did not age as well as you might think, Syndicate plays roughly a thousand times better than those, it's hard to go back

AC Syndicate (best since brotherhood) and Watch Dogs 2 (it's a ton different from 1, so much better) are some of my favorite games of the past few years. I've said this time and time again but I think Ubisoft are unfairly targeted in comparison to other companies lol

Yeah 3 and Unity are the worst, I honestly couldn't even finish 1 though because of the camera and controls so eh. Lol

Not this conversation again, and people wonder why I think everyone hates me. I wake up and is is what I have to see in this thread. Never any other company that gets this much discussion on here lol

Rayman legends is amazing. So is child of light and valiant hearts. Y'all are forgetting their platformers and smaller games.

They still have the best characters and narratives, though. Syndicate's improvements to movement were amazing, and I imagine it's probably hard to go back to the old way after it, but I'd still recommend the Ezio Collection as a starting point.

As I said earlier, I haven't played tons of WD2 but from what I played was fun and enjoyable, also said I haven't played the AC series also so I can't comment on that either. It's the ones I have played that have, for the most part, left me feeling indifferent towards them. Siege is one of the best MP games out there right now that I play daily almost because they done a very good job on it and improving it after launch. It's just others I've played that have been very lackluster.

I think the criticism is fair considering they mainly make free roam games that have the same basics involved while not changing it up significantly enough to distinguish itself while other companies who also do free roam games push innovation and new gameplay styles, only have to look at GTA V or Just Cause 3 to see how routine something like Ghost Recon Wildlands is for instance.

    Black Flag
    Revelations

    AC1
Unity (played it months after launch so all the bugs were fixed)

Just play that and syndicate, and I wouldn't complain.

I don't think it is. What makes GTA that much different?

Assassin's creed, watch dogs and far cry do not play the same. There have been major missteps within AC franchise (3+Unity like I said) but even that isn't as bad as people are making it out to be. It's a shame people become so cynical they want to write off future titles.

Three playable lead characters during same missions for instance never mind GTA Online which is constantly evolving and introducing new gameplay features, which isn't to say the game is perfect but Wildlands is just so bland and been there done that in comparison.

Ubisoft gets a lot of hate that is undeserved, I agree with that for sure. Even when they make games that aren't necessarily "original" or "mold-breaking," they almost always make technically competent games that provide a fairly large amount of content for the price. I mean, say what you will about Wildlands being "just another open world game," if one is a fan of those types of games there is a crapton of stuff to do in that game. And after a year+ of updates The Division is in the best shape it's been in ever. Plus Watch Dogs 2 was a huge improvement over the first game, and Far Cry Primal translated the Far Cry formula into that setting incredibly well. They do some crappy things, but all the major publishers do, so really the outsized hate they get compared to EA and Activision is kind of off-base in my opinion. Not saying they're perfect, no big publisher really is, just that they're no worse than their peers lol
