Congratulations, man! Now you can let my lady and come crash at your place! I wouldn't be allowed to build a kitchen because we wouldn't be able to afford the rest of the house. My dream is to have one of those crazy islands that weighs your food, displays measurements and recipes, and all that other crazy shit.

I bought one for an ex-girlfriend. I want one to make pasta but it's pretty far down on my list. I don't really back or anything so it'd be kind of a waste. You should do it though and send me sugar-free desserts.

 

Thanks! Absolutely! We need @dadbolt to come along too since that NYC trip didn't work out. My problem is I want to spend more on appliances than anything else in the house haha. I want Viking and Sub-Zero appliances, but it looks like I'm settling for the profile line from GE. Still, it will be very nice to cook with gas again after all these years with electric and to have a french door refrigerator... and a dishwasher! Which I haven't had in almost 5 years. The whole house is being remodeled, so I can't get too crazy in the kitchen. But we're going for a transitional style if you're familiar with that lingo (I wasn't until a few weeks ago). White cabinets, stainless steel appliances, big windows, dark counters. I'm beyond ready for the end of May to get here when all of the work should be done.

 

I could not survive without a dishwasher. There would never be a clean dish in the house

 

That sounds awesome. I love my dishwasher so much, though there is something to be said for how economical you become with dish usage when you don't have one. Now I dirty up every bowl I own when I'm cooking, haha. I'm jealous of the gas stove. I have a shitty electric glass top stove. It is the worst.

 

It is the worst. Luckily, I have it worked out with the lady that I cook and she cleans.

Do you have electric heat too? oil?

 

I live in an old converted New England house so our heat is boiling water in pipes that has air blowing past it.

I wish that was a joke.

I have radiators in my current apartment. They are nice for heat, but take up too much space. lol

You're living the high life. I don't think any of the houses in New England are equipped for central air and I am boujee so I need air conditioning the minute it's over 68 degrees so every room in our apartment has a window unit.

That's how it is at my current place haha... essentially four rooms and a bathroom. AC in each room except the kitchen, but that's because i'm best off opening the windows in the summer time in that room. I just hope I can last until the end of May in this place without having to put them in the windows.

I see what your priorities are...

I forget central air isn't as common up there as it is here.

 

Yeah here window units are only in old homes or apartments.

 

My wife uses it weekly. She's literally the kitchen aid queen. She even wears an apron while she uses it. I've also gained 10 pounds since we've had it...

 

That's how it was in the midwest. I'm reasonably sure it's just because most of the houses built in New England, and this probably extends to Philly, were built before the advent of central air so they aren't really equipped for it.
