So was the toy soldier supposed to be a message from dwight? I kind of figured so, but don't remember seeing that before so I wasn't positive.

Yeah pretty sure it was Dwight letting them know he didn't know about the garbage people double cross.

Could anyone make out what exactly the deal was between the Saviors and GP? And when she said the deal was made? Couldn't really catch it

All I caught was her saying they made a better deal.

12 bodies/lives. Negan said 10 because people are useful, she then agreed to 10 after his acid stare down.

So she wanted to kill 12 people? Do we have any idea why?

The wood soldier goes all the way back to Dwights first episode with Daryl in the forest I believe.

what are the odds anyone, specifically daryl, would find a tiny toy in a random location? little too far-fetched for me. also, i thought the sasha duex es machina was great, but the tiger timing too much. i mean, i get its a show, but that stuff always bugs me haha

I think she wanted 12 of Negan's people to join her, not kill them

In the grand scheme of things, the trash people felt so unnecessary. They're like the stupidest idea for a society, and are just a waste of screen time. Even in the finale I thought their inclusion was really dumb. Would've been better to have Oceanside fighting alongside everyone else. I think if you take the trash people out of the season completely you could still find a narrative way to have the Rick and Michonne episode because, duh, you need guns to fight a war. Same with Tara telling Rick about Oceanside.

The trash gang is silly but I laughed pretty hard at "I lay with him after. You care?"

Rick used to be this unstoppable man, he's a shell of his former self. I remember when Shane wanted to kill him and Rick was like "nah bruh." Or in the bar with Rene from True Blood. Rick was like, "yeah you got me surrounded but i'm Rick Grimes" then splat! Having the Garbage chick standing over him defenseless...Ugh. Hand in your hero card.

  15. I probably shouldn't point out only the negatives. I really like how they handled Morgan's, Sasha's, and Dwight's arcs

The action was pretty stupid IMO. Everyone was just standing around in the wide open firing seemingly blindly. And letting Negan's truck get away...shoot the damn tires, people!

Season 8 premiere will be episode 100. For whatever that's worth.

I'm unfortunately in the "this show has become trash" camp now :tear:. There's just more I dislike about it than I like - characters I like now are just Dwight and Michonne - Maggie is almost there but is still prone to lame writing (I like her and Enid's relationship currently). It just seems that characters that could be likable are just given terrible dialogue to work with (Ezekiel last night was just way OTT, it was off-putting) or terrible decisions to make.

They need to whittle the cast down asap and have more focused storylines; split it into Alexandria and Hilltop but not have 1 episode with one group followed by one episode of the other, have both in the same ep & learn to balance them. Mains should be Rick, Carl, Michonne, Daryl & Carol in Alexandria, Maggie running shit herself at Hilltop and Dwight as a 7th main so we have that link to Negan/The Savours for maybe a bottleneck at The Sanctuary or w/e. Everyone else working off those two locations, Rosita, Eugene, Tara killed off, The Kingdom has now been established so we don't need so much screentime dedicated to it (it's an ally in the fight, not somewhere a main character should be permanently). Including new groups & characters at this point just takes more away from the show than adds to it.

So, uhhhh, there's my $0.02 that no-one asked for. Hope u all show me the respect I deserve & read it all the way through >-p

Also, Sasha's death was cool as hell in that ep, and she was a great character & great actor these past few seasons IMO.

There were plenty laying on the ground before Negan had Carl and Rick on their knees. Albeit the no name Alexandrians and not major cast

Oh wow, didn't expect everyone to like this ep as much as they did. For me it was pretty solid, but not really finale good. If the season was paced differently this could have been an awesome mid season finale.

Pros: Sasha scenes, Tiger, Carl being awesome, Eugene's turn, that opening with Dwight, Negan as always.

Cons: Dwight's turn not adding up to anything (why not just introduce him jumping ship later), the placing of Sasha scenes (they kept killing a lot of momentum), terrible fire fight scenes as always, missing the chance to have Michonne snipe someone (would have put her skills to the test with that swollen eye).

I laughed more than anything else during the finale, and I don't think that was the intended reaction from the writers. All of Negan's little one-liners post-Shiva attack were golden, only to be topped by the flipping of the bird while driving away.

There are things that I don't understand, however. The main one being the garbage people - why do they speak in as few words as possible? Maybe that in itself isn't bad, but when you have a dread-locked Shakespeare nut NEVER breaking character, along with these weird people, there is a problem. I can only suspend disbelief so much, even in a show where zombies run around. As stupid as it is, I bet the reasoning behind everything I just stated is the writers wanting to "differentiate" the groups.

The last thing has to do with Negan's constant threatening and never following through. In the premier, at least he actually did something (Glenn and Abe), but what has he done since then besides showing off his back bends and talking up a storm? I know it's not wanted by most, but I'd really love to see Negan before all of this happened, or just after it all happened. Was he a family man, life-long loner, criminal, did he escape from jail? Just a little something, maybe Negan was a prisoner at the prison from season 3, shit or even a corrections officer there.

Everyone needs a backstory, even through dialogue, and Negan is by far the one that needs it the most. For the non-comic people, he doesn't have a backstory there either, and the comics are FAR past the show.

Below are some potential spoilers based on the comics, but mostly regarding the timeline.

I have a feeling season 8A will be All Out War part 1 (the attack on the Sanctuary and retaliation on Alexandria) and will end with The Saviors retreating just like in this finale. The second part of the season will be All Out War part 2 (Negan attacking Alexandria again, winning, but accepting a truce from Rick) and ending on a cliffhanger more than likely. Negan gets his throat slit by Rick and is then imprisoned where Dwight was held in the 7 finale.
