speaking of 41 and hilbert numbers, read up on hilbert spaces it'll blow your mind (ok hilbert numbers aren't related but still). I know they're used in Computer Science too. Used them in quantum mechanics and that shit was fascinating.

I learned about them when I tried doing this problem Problem 580 - Project Euler. it was hard. they have non-unique prime decompositions so the problem basically boils down to counting how many repetitions of factorizations a number has. I worked on it for a couple days then put it on the back burner and forgot about it.

 

I remember looking at that before lol. It was an extra credit assignment and I def ignored it.

 

ya. my approach was basically counting the number of square numbers within that range, and then subtracting. that's easy enough to do. the problem is you'll overcount the number of square numbers due to the non-unique decomposition. I couldn't figure out a way to check if a number has been counted before since storing all of them isn't feasible and I couldn't find a nice analytic way of checking cuz I'm not that clever lol.
