This hits the nail on the head and I wished more people understood it. These dudes spent more time together than most of us have with friends, and we're all victims of the same falling out. I've got a friend I grew up playing music with and he went off the grid, moved to Alaska and totally lives his life as he sees fit. He comes back to WI once about every five years and we grab coffee together, chit chat for a couple hours, and that's it. Our musical stylings have gone different directions and once that's eliminated there isn't much left to talk about once we catch up the last 5 years.

Yeah I agree with you. It doesn't seem like there were any big fights or blow ups, things just didn't work out. Mark and Travis wanted to make new music and tour while Tom wanted to do his other projects and they kept getting in the way. It also seemed like the 3 really didn't have much of a relationship to begin with and barely spoke outside of "work".

People grow up and change, it happens.

    Things have changed.

Any band their size becomes a business. They all travel separately, have separate dressing rooms, and I wouldn't be shocked if they don't actually "hang out" that much on the road.

  4. I'm perusing YouTube watching old Blink interviews I've never seen before, and I stumbled on this one that actually has a few "deleted scenes" from the WMAA video that I thought was kinda cool!

Didn't they say there WERE a ton of fights and the original break up was the result of a huge one? Saying he "wishes him the best in whatever he does" isn't exactly an outpouring of love.

I will say....I listened to Misery twice yesterday (pretty early in the day) and I woke up in the middle of the night with Mark's bridge stuck in my head. Still can't get over the guitar tone and that pre-chorus singing about a halo though. Thank goodness for Skiba's ending and Mark's bridge in that song.

Yeah it's not so much that they don't actually "hang out" its that it seemed like they didn't even talked to each other outside of when they get on stage, doing sound checks, or rehearsals. All 3 members made comments in the past that they rarely would talk to each other when they were off the road. Mark and Travis mentioned that before the 2nd break up it had been months since either of them spoke to Tom as everything was handled by their managers/lawyers. They just didn't have much of a relationship outside of "work".

Yeah there were apparently a ton of fighting going on back stage before the 1st break up. The big fight that lead to the break up was during a rehearsal for a tsunami charity event they were suppose to play in about Tom wanting more time off and wanted them to record at his studio in San Diego or them recording in different studios like they did with Neighborhoods, the next day Tom's manager told Mark and Travis that Tom quit and changed his number.

Mark and Travis never mentioned any specific fights or big blow ups before the 2nd official break up, just that Tom would complain a lot during rehearsals and was generally unhappy being in the band and had quit at least one other time only to rejoin the next day.

I just think the lack of communication between the guys and Tom wanting to do other projects was their biggest downfall for the 2nd break up.

And yes I agree simply reading Mark's comment about Tom doesn't seem like outpouring of love, it just seemed like the typical PC comment to the media.

John Feldmann is a hollywood whore SELLOUT and he ruined blink. Misery is absolute shit. This band is dead to me.

The only thing I don't like about Misery is the prechorus (the "there's a halo" bit). If it werent for that it would probably be a top 5 post untitled song for me. That bridge gives me chills every time.

This is pretty punk rock. But not as punk rock as California was.

Imagine going into an alternate universe where blink never broke up and kept making records.

Now imagine if we told that universe what happened in ours, it would sound totally crazy and unbelievable, and I'd bet they be dying to see/hear what all went down. That's my stoned thought of the day (for now)

If Tom was singing instead of Matt, I guarantee you'd be having the complete opposite reaction lol

I don't know if it's Feldmann or Matt or I just grew out of this band but I kind of agree. I don't hate them by any means but doesn't really impress me in any way. More of a fan of Tom (with Blink and even Angels and Airwaves)

Like once a week it seems. These people cause more resentment to come out towards Tom than the man himself. Band's dead to you? Ever hear of don't speak ill of the dead? Try it and just peace out of here lol. Like I'm all for constructive discussion, it's not a perfect record. But if simply "it's not blink without Tom" what's the point? There's an AVA thread if Tom is all that matters to you lol.

Exactly. And I've made this point before. I am all for constructive criticism and discussion, especially intelligent debate. But that type of post is really just being negative for the sake of being negative. If the band is dead to you move on and talk about bands that are still alive to you in other threads. But coming in here just to crap on it and the people who like it just because Tom isn't in the band is really pointless, what are you going to achieve doing that besides seeming like a jerk? Seems to happen any time there's a new song or announcement

You act as if the band gave Feldmann the keys to the kingdom and they no longer have control over their sound or a say in ANYTHING, for that matter. If anyone ruined blink, it's the band themselves (which i don't think is the case, to be clear)

This isn't some 90's boyband with no creative control, the band chose to work with Feldmann, they chose to write songs with him and he sure as shit didn't make them do anything they didn't want to do.

The "dead without Tom" thing is stupid anyways because the only thing they would've done in the last two years is at best maybe, MAYBE drag Tom's ass out to a couple festival dates for a show. There definitely wouldn't be a single new blink song.

Festival dates, and about ten interviews claiming they'd be recording summer 2016....fall 2016.....winter 2016.... beginning of 2017....and so on
