That was my biggest issue with book one. The second book doesn't answer a lot of them, but expands on motivations and some of the other characters.

Gail Simone is seriously in another league with her writing.

 

She's the best. This is the exact sort of thing I was hoping she'd write. She just keeps upping the terror (which is crazy since the first issue opened the way it did)

 

Ok, for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, I have @xapplexpiex for Astonishing Thor and @Deanna for whatever we need (let's see who else shows interest, though if there's a character that you're particularly interested in, Deanna, let me know). I can do one, too. So, we just need a couple more.

@SpyKi, you wanna do a Bendis GOTG story? I seem to recall you posting about being interested in it after reading the Trial of Jean Grey crossover. @Henry, is there something you're interested in for this one? Anyone else in this thread?

I would like to get all the GOTG blurbs assigned, written, and submitted to me by May 1.

For Legend of Wonder Woman, I'm gonna give @lightning13 dibs if she wants, even though I volunteered her instead of her volunteering herself, lol. I want a wide range of people a chance, and last I knew it was one of the few comics she's read. If you don't wanna do it or don't think you'll have time, I'll have either @Vivatoto or myself do it, since I really want it included.

For True Amazon, I'm going to give @Vivatoto dibs on that one (depending on what we do with Legend of Wonder Woman) 'cause @xapplexpiex has a pick already for GOTG. But, if @Vivatoto ends up on LoWW (or deciding on passing on True Amazon), then @xapplexpiex gets True Amazon.

Thankfully, I don't need the blurbs for Wonder Woman until May 29 (two months from now!), so we have time to work through those assignments.

 

I'll take Earth One. Been meaning to give that a re-read anyway.

Sounds good to me, I can do either of those. I'm also fine with doing a GOTG one, though I'll have to read whatever it is. I enjoyed the first issue of Bendis run if SpyKi doesn't want it. Like Logan, I'm not super versed in the universe at this time.

 

Yeah, I'm interested in trying it out but i haven't read any yet so I'd need to do that, ha. Also I'm bad at writing things.

 

Im confused. Wasn't legend of ww only 9 issues? Did I miss anything? Or is this a different one from renae de liz?

 

Probably not gonna do a GOTG book since the one I like is out of print and I don't really have a means of reading anything else. Wonder Woman I'll be good for.

Just noticed that Black Magick is coming back, happy about that. Love Nicola Scott so much and I think that book might be her best work honestly.

It was a digital-first series released in smaller pieces. So, 27 digital "chapters" = 9 print issues (= 1 hardcover volume).

@Vivatoto, maybe the first volume of the Abnett & Lanning GOTG Complete Collectiom would be a good fit for you.

@SpyKi, if you were still interested in Bendis' GOTG, maybe you could do that? We'll decide which collection would be the best to go off of for this.

@Deanna, maybe you could tackle one of the solo titles? Rocket Raccon by Skottie Young is really funny and full of energy. The 2015 Groot miniseries is charming in an almost Disney sorta way. Either of those appeal to your tastes? (@Vivatoto and @SpyKi, if either of you wanna claim one of these, that's fine, which would then open an additional option for @Deanna.)

If any of you look around and see a different GOTG-themed title that jumps out to you, that's cool, too!


Once GOTG is settled, I'll get back to sorting out who's doing what for Wonder Woman, though again, we have some time before that one needs settled.

 

I have rocket raccoon in my library to read so I'd be down for that. Any specific issue I need to read to? If I remember correctly, MU only has 10-11 issues so far.

 

The first trade collects #1-6, so let's do that.

Yeah I could do the Bendis one. How much shall I read and when do you want this done by?

 

The easiest would probably be just the first regular trade.

That trade collects #0.1 (a prequel issue explaining Peter Quill's backstory), #1-3 (the first, relatively short arc of the main series), and Guardians of the Galaxy: Tomorrow's Avengers #1 (a one-shot comic with a collection of short stories featuring the other 4 Guardians). So, it'll almost feel more like an introductory anthology book, lol, but I think that's alright.

 

That whole Bendis run is wonderful imo.
