I would not be happy being in a seated section for this band, ha.

Feel like in seated venues people judge me a lot more for singing along and stuff and that takes me out of the show and out of my enjoyment for it

Yeah i know that feeling. Last time i was seated there was a girl next to me who kept filming herself singing and i could see she was getting me on camera too and it made me so uncomfortable. I remember so many people passing out when i first saw MCR live, ha. It was sad because they were all people who had been waiting in line all day.

Coming from a country where seated venues for rock shows basically don't exist (because the rock scene is so small), I was shocked at having to seat to see Against the Current live in London some months ago. Standing tickets had sold out unfortunately and I had to purchase one for the balcony. It was ruining the experience to the point I just stood up and went to the side corridor, from where the view was more limited but at least I could stand and move a bit if I wanted. And that was a pop/pop rock show, not even punk rock or some edgier stuff, but one couldn't just seat there still and enjoy it. Where's the fun in it?

oh that's definitely another thing, feel like people are a lot more inconsiderate at seated shows for like arenas and whatnot -- maybe cause they paid more to be there? I dunno. MCR truly have some sort devoted fans, esp at their peak. I was always wondering if I was a real fan as a young tween bc I wasn't looking to do any of the more extra stuff haha

I was at their first shows back for the Danger Days era and i got the bus to London at 3 in the morning, arrived at like 7 in the morning and there was still like 500 people ahead of me in line, haha. Mental.

That's jaw dropping. It's different to hear about this stuff later when reading about it was incomprehensible. My friend knew a person who insisted MCR would save the entire world

Did anyone see the comment Frank made on Twitter the other day? Somebody said Frank was depressed because of MCR, and he responded and said "I'm rich because of MCR, I'm depressed because I miss my wife and kids" or something like that. He clarified later what he meant but some people did not seem to appreciate the comment.

  10. fuck those people that didn't seem to "appreciate" his comment! it's fucked up for somebody to use their own selfish and entitlement as an excuse for why someone else is depressed. what the hell is wrong with people? Frank shouldn't need to clarify shit.

Why would anyone have a problem with that comment? It's a great comment. He is rich thanks to MCR and of course he misses his family.. some people are weird.

Was going through some old music and listened to some MCR. I'll be honest and confess I didn't listen to them much. I dabbled, but I initially wrote them off as Hot Topic music and a gimmick. I mostly looked down on some of the fans that thought they were now punk rockers because they found MCR on their breakout record. In hindsight, that was really lame of me haha. It really doesn't matter what your path is to punk rock. However, some of their Three Cheers songs were sneaky catchy to me. By the time they released that Bob Dylan cover I basically accepted them as legit, but wasn't a huge fan like a lot of people my age.

As a Pink Floyd fan, I appreciated their artistic approach to go down a completely different path for TBP. It's a good album that I would say holds up. I never really got into Danger Days much, but again, I appreciate how they actually really challenged their fans to grow with them and accept rather large stylistic changes. I only saw the band live once on the Blink tour where no songs from Bullets (also a cool album) were played.

I think if I saw MCR in the early days growing up on the east coast I might have had a better appreciation early on. As someone who saw Brand New, TBS, FOB, etc before they all got big, I know there is something special about seeing the trajectory first hand. Sorry for the long post, but it's late and I felt like I needed to confess about how I was a dumb punk rock gatekeeper in my early teen years.

I enjoy the record for what it is. I understand the hate it got when it first came out, but there are a lot of good songs on there. I think its worth the purchase.

Side note: Has anyone seen the movie Turbo Kid on netflix? That movie reminds me so much of Danger Days haha.

Danger Days remains my favorite album. Each album of theirs was my favorite at that point when it was released (from Revenge on), but now being 6 years removed from DD being released, it always stayed on top for me.

It's crazy thinking back now to how MASSIVE these guys were at their peak, compared to even the biggest bands from this "scene" of music nowadays. I'll admit I was never huge into them until after the breakup, but the impact they had was undeniable. I feel like they'll inevitably have to reunite at some point, even if it's just for a one-off show or something.

For those of you who are much bigger fans than I am, why are some of you skeptical that they'll ever reunite? I'm legitimately curious, because it seems to me as someone who doesn't follow them that closely that the allure of coming back as one of the biggest bands to ever come from their "sub-genre", even if just for a show or two, would be undeniable. But I guess if their internal issues or creative differences were too bad that would still make it unlikely? I really don't know enough to judge that.

Like, I could totally see MCR just coming back to do occasional festival shows, kinda like how Thursday, Underoath, Alexisonfire, etc. have done.

They broke up because being in the band was making Gerard super depressed. He basically felt like the band had reached its natural end after The Black Parade and although they tried to change the band into something else and they all seemed to love Danger Days as an album, Gerard felt like he was forcing things and it didn't feel natural or right to him anymore. They all seemed very certain about it being the end and they didn't even do a final tour or finish the album they were working on because they just felt like the band was done. I just feel like Gerard always had a very clear vision for what he wanted the band to be and when he deviated from it, he ended up being very unhappy with things. They all seem super happy with what they're doing now, Gerard's the head of an imprint over at DC comics and he's writing two comics over there and working on Umbrella Academy and his solo music, Ray and Frank are both doing solo stuff and Mikey has another band. I just don't see why they'd come back to MCR. They definitely don't seem like the kind of band that would come back for an anniversary tour or a paycheck.

I can see it someday maybe happening because I've been surprised by enough bands now that I don't think anything is impossible, except maybe The Smiths, I don't see it happening any time soon though.

I have it on record, got the HT pressing for $5, sounds really good somehow and looks just as good. I like it a lot, and listening to it as a whole like that makes me appreciate the not as great tracks. I was getting real into Destroya. 8/10 would recommend for sure! It is my least fav of theirs though, and I count CW as an album kinda too.
