Mistyped, meant Degenerate. Just had Lemmings in the brain after looking at the Dude Ranch track list. Lemmings is cool.

 

Haha ok phew. Yeah Degenerate is fun, but weak. Mark's songwriting on Dude Ranch stands so far above Tom's.

 

Yeah then I agree with you fully. I liked Degenerate when I was young and a degenerate but yeah it's not a very good song looking at it today. I think the majority of Tom's pre Enema songs didn't age well at all.

 

Yeah I'm going straight Mark down the line.

 

TOYPAJ, untitled, and Neighborhoods would be close for me. TOYPAJ and Untitled because Mark and Tom are both killing it, Neighborhoods because they're both so unremarkable.

 

Tom has always been my favourite but when you lay it out like that it's crazy how Mark has so many of my faves. Especially on Dude Ranch although it's not quite that straight forward when you consider that the back and forth with Tom's vocals on songs like Pathetic and Emo etc are the best elements for me (even if Mark wrote them).

Also we can all whine about the production of the new jointz but let's be honest. Back then they were just writing infinitely better songs to begin with.

 

Mark's take on all these albums is superior in my opinion.

Funny I say that considering Untitled is my favorite album all time and it's heavily Tom.

 

Wow blink is obsessed with Arizona as of late. Played in Phoenix in September, played Phoenix Open in February, Tucson this Sunday, just announced they're playing the March Madness Music Fest next Sunday in Phoenix with Aerosmith, Macklemore, and Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, and then in Flagstaff in mid-April.

Mark's contributions on the first 3 albums were so massive. One of my friends who I considered a pretty big Blink fan thought the new lineup would be doomed without Tom. His reasoning was that Mark couldn't carry an album and that he thought of Tom as the de facto front man. Naturally, Blink hadn't played a huge role in his life since high school but he really had forgotten how many jams Mark wrote. I then constructed a mark only playlist and played it during our pre game and he completely changed his tune.

 

Tom's Dude Ranch work contains like 3 of blink's top 10 songs. I'd call Pathetic a joint effort

 

Untitled is one I wish they'd break out live.

 

Also A New Hope is a bad song don't @ me

It was Tom, he even posted a picture of the notebook he wrote the lyrics on a few years ago.

I'm also pretty sure that like 90% of the time the parts they sing are the parts they wrote, but I can be completely wrong so if anyone knows please correct me. The only song I can remember that they mentioned specifically was STFTK where Tom wrote that whole song but Mark still sang on it.

 

I mean I'd give Dick Lips and Untitled consideration for top ten but they don't make mine at all. I assume those are two of your three, what third song do you think is top ten?

 

Dick Lips, Untitled, I'm Sorry, even Enthused. Definitely Pathetic if we're including that as well. Pathetic might be my favorite blink song, encompasses everything I enjoy about them

 

Pathetic is a top ten song easy for me. I'm Sorry isn't even in my top ten even if that was their only album haha. But the album is my 4th favorite album by anybody for me, there's nothing on there I don't love. The fun of the Tom songs that are weaker to me more than make up for the songwriting deficit. Really that just applies to Voyeur and Degenerate.

 

In fairness I'd film those ones too cause I know that's what my noob friends would appreciate more. Like filming Sorry at Bieber. Or enter sandman at Metallica

iirc, you are mostly right. I think neighborhoods is where things switched up a bit. I remember reading that after lyrics were written, they'd then decide who would sing what. I'm pretty sure mark wrote even if she falls but of course tom is the one who sings it. again i could be remembering it wrong. it's been some time.

 

I think you're mixing that up with "This Is Home"
