Trout's big flaw is that he's as personable as a paper bag. He's one of the best talents ever, but all we get from him is the most canned responses. The most interesting thing about him other than his ridiculously good play is that he's a huge nerd about weather. That's it.

But I've never thought of Trout as a douche. He looks like a brute, but he's so unoffensive in everything he says and does.

 

The real crime is this home plate umps strike zone tonight.

 

I didn't even know he was a nerd about weather. I don't think I know a thing about him other than how well he plays baseball actually.

 

Exactly. Even the video of him playing soccer dressed as a homeless man in a town square with some random kid was enough to win me over.

 

Trout hyped about weather.

He's probably taken a page out of Jeter's playbook. Jeter was likeable (depends who you ask) but you knew nothing about him outside of what the papers said and his interviews were so mundane.

 

I'm biased but I just feel like his non responses come off douchey to me. And the fact that announcers/writers only talk about him and nobody else like they're meaningless rubs me the wrong way.

 

Trout kept me really engaged in baseball while the Cubs were at their worst. He's the first non-Cub that I ever bought a shirsey for.

 

Or b/c he is a division rival maybe?

Doesn't matter if you're cheering for him or against him, Harper makes baseball more fun to watch. The sport needs more guys like him.

 

That's why I'm biased. My wife feels the same way though and she's not a very big baseball fan at all.

 

If anyone uses MLB.tv, someone wrote a script akin to the NFL Sunday Ticket red zone thing where it takes you to the game with the highest leverage situation going on.

All I think watching these Braves/Nats games is how glad I am Simmons isn't there anymore.

 

Man, this game is amazing to watch.

 

This Marlins/Mets game is good, even with the bullpen in. Weird seeing The Pittsburgh Kid in a NYM jersey though.

Trout's amazing but I've always rooted for Harper. Agree with Trout taking a page out of Jeter's book and he's not very personable. I love watching Harper play. He's much more Reggie Jackson personality-wise and it's entertaining. And always been more on his side since everyone took his "where's my ring" comment out of context in that interview. It's pretty telling that I hear probably nothing picked on about him more than his hair. And everyone acted like he never hustles based on that Papelbon ordeal. Those people must have literally only seen that one play involving Harper lol. Either way Trout and Harper will be great for the game the next 15 years or so.

 

Matt Diaz would have caught that lol the Harper hype lives on!
