Oh only about 10...20...something times

 

I have been. I like it a lot. Mainly bc of Matt and Travis. They rule in it. This is the best Matt has sounded since the Good Mourning/Crimson days, imo.

Also, Same kinds goes for Mark in the second chorus when he sings, "Underneath fluorescent lights we'll waste the best nights of our lives" over the punk beat. I can't remember the last time his vocals sounded that strong.

 

Marks verse is preventing me from putting it on repeat.

 

Those parts kick ass, and I don't know why but I also like the part at the finl Chorus after the bridge when Mark starts off the chorus with the low "We are forgotten young suburbia" and then every thing just kicks in and matt and him both sing it

 

Hopefully he brings this back to Trio.

 

It's grown on me. Matt still wins though

 

I mean it's grown a tiny bit on me. It does drag the song down. But Matt owns the song and his performance is outstanding.

 

It took me a couple listens to grow so I get it.

And yes, I'll say it again as I have before I liked Matt and Trio before he joined Blink; but his role in my favorite band has given me a newfound love for this dudes vocal prowess

 

He has a distinct and beautiful voice. It's always been a little whiny but I've always loved it.

 

Yup, there has always been something so hauntingly beautiful about Skiba's voice. Hooked since day 1.

 

Agreed. Like I said, liked him before. Crimson was an often played CD in my high school days and I saw them live multiple times in Cleveland(his ranting about Bush before 'We've had enough' is still a memorable moment for me.) But perhaps I never stopped to focus on it. Even on the lower points of California(which I still like) for example the title track or Teenage Sattelites his vocals are a saving point of the songs.

 

Matts voice on the verse in Kings and the Only Thing That Matters is so orgasmic to my ears aha.

 

He is the sole reason I can listen to Teenage Satellites haha. I also didn't fully appreciate his lower register until My Shame is True. Absolutely amazing.

 

YES. His part on both songs makes those songs for me. I will forever love the way he sings the "nights are numbered" and "left abandoned" parts of his verse in TS. And his verse on TOTTM is my favorite part to sing along to lol

 

Him and Mark are great together, but fuck I don't think it tops him and Dan as a duo. But I don't know Matt can make anything amazing.

Lets keep praising Skiba...I like Skiba. The first time I heard him come into the Bored to Death chorus....game over...Immediately new that song would be a hit. Still is. That song actually hasn't gotten old to me. Its always playing at the gym too. lol

 

There is more contrast between Dan/Matt than Mark/Matt. Same goes for Mark/Tom. Its what makes those duos so damn good.

Yes let's, the guy just plain deserves it. His vocals are top notch, and he's a super polite and cool dude. I had the same realization; Tom used to be my favorite in blink(still loved Mark too though, and my opinion of Tom only really soured when he left because I didn't know better) so when he left I was a bit unconvinced of MarkSkiba. First time I heard BTD I went "Woohoo!" And was SOLD on it. Glad I was too love the album, never tired of it. The bar and grill next to my work has BTD and SOOHM play quite frequently, and my job of doing the outside tasks take a bit longer when they do lol

 

I didn't really like the song at all at first, but then I listened to Battle Symphony by Linkin Park and that song will make anything sound like a masterpiece.

 

Terrible, terrible song. This is the first Linkin Park album I'm going to refuse to buy. It's terrible

 

I really don't hate Mark's verse (lyrics aside, obviously). It is quite fun, it just doesn't really fit in this song? Matt comes out with a bang and then Mark's doesn't really match it at all?

The more I listen the more I like this song and Skiba is the absolute reason why. It's encouraging and frustrating because he is the best part of California...without even letting his writing totally shine. I hope in the next project they let him REALLY take over.

 

All this Skiba love makes me happy. Dude has been my favorite musician for well over a decade now. Dan is not far behind.
