Lol we agree on more than you probably think...we just have different ideas on how to get there

 

My only Daisy complaint is I wish Bed was later in the track listing and Gasoline was track 2 right after Vices

 

I love how Vices into Bed is super jarring. It encompasses the paranoia of the record. Daisy is a record that touches on raging fires/anger and the fears of the forest/being lonesome. Sonically, those are essentially Vices and Bed, respectively.

The record makes you question what you're listening to like a thought experiment.

I love Daisy a lot. I have a lot of internal theories to sort of satisfy the quirks of the album for me. While it is a bit of a self-plug, I made an analysis on it two years ago. The writing is a bit dated in some parts, but I still resonate on the what I feel like are the themes of the record.

 

It's one of my all time favorites too. I'll read this later!

Favorite part of the album. Bed has some awful lyrics, but the instrumentals are great. That transition from chaotic to slow burn is perfect. Album sequencing is underrated.

 

Bed is Brand New's most underrated song. Fact.

 

Nobody Moves is their best. Jaws Theme Swimming is 2nd. Come at me.

 

Out of curiosity, my top played since I started on Audioscrobbler (now Last.fm) in June 2005. I like Bed even more than I thought, I guess.

 

I agree that Nobody Moves is their best track.

 

I sometimes wonder if their best song is available to us as listeners. Like, what if there's something old recorded that blows everything out of the water, you know?
Anyway since I was thinking about it, I firmly believe Daisy is legitimately the best album to follow up TDAG and tbh a good representation of Brand New. Not just the album, necessarily, but the album in addition to all the ways those songs exist -- different arrangements, live versions, whatever. Every time I listen to that album I'm so glad that they didn't just do TDAG or Deja pt 2.

I'm gonna write something one day about how Daisy is actually an incredible artistic achievement in part bc so many people hate it, among other reasons.
