To me "was" is the key word... he fell off hard proportionally to his ego inflating as far as I'm concerned. If Tom from Untitled was still in Blink, yeah I would be devastated if he left. But the Tom who actually put that much passion in the band is gone.

See, I sort of think that the Tom from Untitled was the same Tom from Neighborhoods. I honestly believe that all of Blink's problems started with Boxcar Racer and continued through Untitled, Neighborhoods, and Dogs Eating Dogs.

Agreed. I would add that Midtown as a whole didn't age very well.

Idk I can't speak much on it because I was never the type to go to a show and jump on people/push other people. I don't see literally any positives to that type of behavior/allowing fans on stage, tbh. Most people just say that it's part of the culture, but I don't get down with that, really. It can/should be stopped if it leads to stuff like this

The reason why I really like Taylor and her music is cause she has a great ear for melody, artistic direction and can craft songs that I can immerse myself in and sink into her little Taylor Swift world. No she isn't genre pushing, but her music is uniquely Taylor Swift.

Edit: I also find her remarkably consistent despite several earsores.

Interesting. To me, I see all the Blink albums that came before the first hiatus and they're all great... then Tom went to do AvA which for me wasn't nearly as good, and when Blink came back Neighborhoods wasn't as good as Untitled... so to me it seems obvious where the problem lies. But there could be a lot more I'm not even considering, I'll concede that.

Just finished getting caught up on the thread, and I definitely agree that this thread has to be a balancing act. People should feel free to share whatever opinion they want about music, but that being said, I think being able to elaborate on the more surprising statements is where most of the fun is going to come from... especially those that may come across as uninformed. I think as long as we all give everyone a fair chance to defend their opinions, and those with the opinions are willing to have an open mind and are open to having it changed, it should be a good time.

It just seems to me that there is Blink 182 is a completely different band pre and post Boxcar Racer. It's hard to remember the Untitled era (I think it took the better part of a year to record that album), and not draw parallels to the Neighborhoods era.

I'll try one: I don't like very much instrumental electronic music. Even music with primarily electronic influences was a big turnoff for me until more recently. It's something I know comes across as super musically ignorant, but I'm honestly still trying to find the electronic music that vibes with me. The mess of genres doesn't really help with trying to discover stuff for the first time. Some users on here were recently trying to help me get into stuff and it did help, but I still need to go further.

Interesting. I like some AVA, but for the most part I thought those albums are pretty forgettable.

Oh I definitely think the processes are similar, but idk... somehow the spark was still there during the Untitled recording, because I think that album just blows away Neighborhoods in every facet.

I wasn't a fan of them but I like a number of their songs. I thought +44 was really really boring.

positive unpopular opinion: all time low's album with the rainbow afternoon cover with the shadows of people jumping on it is totally sick and awesome for a late 2000's pop punk album and i would recommended to anyone who wanted to get into pop punk

edit: it's called so wrong it's right...had to look it up

Both pale in comparison to Blink's best work so in that sense I agree... I think +44 was okay. Honestly my hopes aren't TOO high for Blink without Tom, but we'll see.

Even more unpopular: they've made three better albums since then. :eh:

    Still do love SWIR though.

Another positive unpopular opinion: Dogs Eating Dogs was awesome and I don't understand the negative reaction to it, aside from it sounding a bit AVA-esque. It's catchy, it's energetic, it's urgent (well the first 3 tracks at least), it's not quite as experimental as Untitled but it was a massive step up from Neighborhoods and got me sincerely excited for what they were gonna do next.

Man it feels nice to be positive. I should try this more often.

three??? taking it to the max over here. i might give nothing personal the benefit of the doubt at being a better punk-influenced pop album, but i lost interest after that

Did you give Don't Panic and Future Hearts much of a chance? Those are excellent albums and some of their best, imo. Dirty Work is really the only thing they've done that didn't continue the trend of improving with each release.

    forbidden chalice.

I personally think that Don't Panic is ATLs best record. I find a couple of songs on SWIR to be immature (though, you could argue that's a quality of the band, especially live). Nothing Personal is front heavy and deflates on the second half. Dirty Work has some fun songs and favorites, but I dislike the back half bar "Heroes". Future Hearts is fun but I don't like the middle too much (Tidal Waves/Don't You Go/Bail Me Out) and I find them to be regressions. I absolutely love "Cinderblock Garden" though.

I do admit I'm due for another Future Hearts listen though. My memory has gone a tad bit foggy.

Have you ever been to a hardcore show? Like, that's the point. There's also usually plenty of room to stand around/not get hit. I don't think it should be controlled unless the artist on stage doesn't want people to do it. Also have zero idea what that TSSF stuff has to do with any of that.
