Yup completely agree with everything. I'm glad they decided to let Matt shine on the first song released. I also hope in the future we get Matt and Mark only songs on it and a few songs similar to Feeling This and Pathetic with the both of them too.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is this acoustic version of "Bored To Death" the first time they have officially released an acoustic version of a song? I am blanking here.

Yeah unless you count What Went Wrong, Grandpa, Mother's Day or "F' a Dog" which I believe are all acoustic songs.

This is my problem with some of California, as well. I can definitely appreciate the way they got back to their roots with "Bored to Death", "She's Out of Her Mind", "Cynical", etc. but I just want to hear them experiment just a tad more. I've had my fill of the suburbian teenage angst stuff. You don't necessarily have to write everything around that.

And I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but come on. You can have a guitar riff or two in place of the "na na"s.

    Are You Watching Closely?

I was looking at stubhub... Checked today and they're down to 47. I dunno how to insert a screen shot... Maybe I should actually click the tickets and see

Do or do not, there is no try.

It is, yeah - "What Went Wrong" would be the next closest thing to an acoustic track.

    Yeah. That's what I thought.

    Are You Watching Closely?

Parking Lot is relative hot garbage... I was pretty excited about the re-release despite being lukewarm to half of California... But if I never have to hear "na-na" in a Blink song again, I'll be happy

There's an acoustic Baby Come On but that's a different band

Matt's vocals sound like he's been listening to, and enjoying, the Menzingers lately. Which is quite alright by me.

I've listened to this like 10 times already and it seems, to me, objectively enjoyable. If you isolate it from all the typical "new blink critique" and just listen as if you've never heard these guys before. Its just fun.

Honestly if this wasn't blink I wouldn't give it a second listen.

    I am a haunted house. I'm superstitious.

At first listen I thought "Meh...cool, but another super generic pop-punk anthem."

After the 20th listen, I remembered I love pop-punk anthems, specially those recorded by blink-182.

Wow too much hate! Can't get you people. It's totally better than KotW, for example. And everyone here was in love w/ California, amirite? And this is not the worst track from the LP. Seems pretty obvious to me. Also, miss Tom, but like the track. Matt's verse is way stronger than Marks :(

If it wasn't Blink, I wouldn't have made it past the first 30 seconds. I didn't mind Feldman production on California, but production seems weak here... I saw someone use "disjointed", and I agree. Feels very much like they took different instrumental parts and just slapped it all together. Can't see this song improving to me :(

So what's the general consensus? I'm seeing a range between ILOVEIT and IHATEIT. I'm the former

KotW is better. because of the skiba parts.

i can't believe i'm saying this but i think skiba is the best part about blink right now (and I say that as someone who still believes they should be using the name 'blink 182 w/ matt skiba'). Mark just doesn't innovate much musically. He was able to on +44, but it almost feels like he feels obligated to have a certain sound with blink.

  19. I think it's unfair to assign blame when no one's in the studio with the band, but that's just me.

I mean, I definitely think Skiba helped bring this band back to life, but I also think Travis has always been the one that propelled this band forward. Without him, many of their songs would probably suck haha. The dude is not your everyday drummer.

I'm the former as well. Love Matt's vocal performance and lyrics, love hearing Mark and Matt harmonizing, and I really like chord progressions. I can agree with the critique of the "teenage anthem" style lyrics, but the verses are good enough for me to forgive it.

KotW is way better than this, that song has a really good hook. No Future and Rabbit Hole are the worst non-joke songs on California, but I'd rather listen to them than this one.
