    I Miss Jake W Prestigious

I really didn't feel that way while watching, but also, I reside in an asian country so I don't feel particularly confident weighing in.

If you ever get around to watching it, let me know how it goes for you. Would love to hear this thread's opinion on it.

I have a problem with movies where the whole thing is based on a gimmick or a spectacle. There has to be something there besides pretty visuals.

For sure, I'll most likely see it within the next week or so.

A short that I've written called "Love Bites" now has a release date! April 22nd. I haven't seen anything other than the poster, so fair warning.

Log Line - Jacob's girlfriend has locked herself in their bedroom for hours. After numerous attempts to get her to come out, with no response, Jacob and his friend, Ammon, decide to break down the door. They wish they hadn't.

How did you hear about the ending? I didn't really have any idea about the plot, especially the ending before going in.

I honestly don't care if I spoil something. It's the journey there that I care about.

    fuck tammy! Prestigious

first black writer/director with a $100M opening and it's a horror movie, even! good horror at that. it's nervous, "something is fucking OFF here but maybe i'm just being paranoid," similar to The Invitation's vibe.

  13. Only in the LA area, which is an hour+ drive for me. Hoping it gets a slightly wider release.

Which direction from LA are you? I'm like 70 miles East of there.

  15. Like 50ish miles up the coast. I drive down to LA often enough for concerts, comedy, and visiting friends, but I'm not quite down to drive there to see a movie that I'm probably gonna have to see by myself.

Anyone else want to chime in on this?

Who else actively seeks out spoilers for a movie they plan on seeing in theater?

  18. Seems absurd to me. My mom read the last few chapters of Return of the King before seeing it in theaters, though.

I don't always do it. But if I know that I wont be seeing the movie for some time, I'll just seek out the ending.

i'm pretty vehemently anti spoiler but i also treat art like a sacred medium so im a bit of a goon

But spoiling something for yourself isn't necessarily tarnishing anything. Unless you're under the impression that the piece needs to be viewed/heard/read in a certain way, and no other.

well, yeah, i think it needs to be experienced in the way the creator intended. spoiling completely rearranges how one watches a film, that's why rewatching films can be so rewarding. it's your call, i mean, but to me it's an automatic no no

I listen around to people's thoughts on movies and occasionally pick up on bits of the premise that interest me, but I like knowing as little as possible about a film's plot before watching it. Like, in the case of books I've read that get turned into movies, I wish I could forget what I'd read in the book so I can experience it in film for the first time as well. I just watched the Shawshank Redemption for the first time, and I had read the short story before, so the final act of the film wasn't as powerful as it could have been had I not known what was coming. I did get to experience the power of that third act reading the book, but it would have been nice to experience the surprise cinematically as well.

I only do it in certain situations with certain movies. I DON'T spoil more often that not. Something like The Witch, or something that is very unique, I won't spoil.

If there's a movie out that interests you, but you won't be seeing it for a while, does it bother you that it's out there and you don't know the ending?
