You are absolutely right. Opinions like yours are the reason I created the thread. This thread is meant to be a "safe space" for people to express their unpopular opinions without judgement.

I have always agreed with this sentiment as well.

I agree with these! The Smiths are terrible.

    Here is a big one.

I think the only two Nickelback songs I can positively identify as Nickelback songs are "How you remind me" and "Hero". Both of which aren't that bad. I have never actually heard a Nickelback album and I would be willing to bet the majority of people that hate that band haven't either. I think most of the hate for that band spawns from how creepy looking the lead singer is. Which is actually warranted because that motherfucker is creepy af.

i think it only really became the unpopular opinion once he left the first time.

Other than the first few songs, I don't get the appeal for Yellowcard's Ocean Avenue besides laying the groundwork for their opus Paper Walls. OA was a good record for what it was, but I don't understand how people rank it above PW and Southern Air.

Am I missing something? I'd love to see it in a new perspective.

seriously though is there literally anything positive to get out of this thread? feel like this is the kind of thing we didn't want here anyways

There have been some positive things, but yeah a lot of it ends up being pointlessly negative (including a thing I said in that)

no there is not, because the response to disagreement is roughly "this is not meant to be a space where discussion happens"

Probably unpopular on this site but I don't like Fall Out Boy and can't stand the singer's voice. I didn't mind Sugar we're going down but that's it.

(And there's nothing wrong with being pointlessly negative! Haha)

I'm trying to voice my disagreement in ways that others can possibly enlighten me with insight so I can learn what's good about it or what I'm not getting.

But yeah, I can totally understand how these kinds of threads can be harmful by design.

    hmmm

Very recent development for me actually and I can't imagine it's that popular with rock fans but:

I think Mariah Carey is amazing!!!

How do you mean? I personally enjoy reading unpopular opinions. If you don't, I am not sure why you are participating in this thread?

This actually isn't meant to be a thread where discussion happens. It's a thread where people can express their unpopular opinions without having to justify it to people who disagree.

It took me a while to get into Hop Along as well, her voice can be a deal breaker for some. But ultimately I enjoy their music.

I agree, OA is probably my least favorite Yellowcard album with Southern Air being my favorite. I even like Lights & Sounds more than OA.

Probably has to do with how old you were when it came out/when you listened to it relative to the band's other records. OA came out when I was nine so I kinda missed it, and I got into the band with their later material, so while I love OA, I agree it's far from their best.

I don't care for Ed Sheeran AT ALL. Every time I hear him I picture a 14 year old girl crying herself to sleep because her "boyfriend" of 3 days dumped her.
