It's the color of the water in Venice/Cinque Terre (the picture with the spotlight wall is all art I've purchased in Venice, the five on the sand wall are art in Cinque Terre), but also my favorite color for most of my life. Born and raised in Tampa, so I'm Tampa in all sports, really. My uncle is a Dolphins fan, though.

That's awesome, I like the inspiration you've channeled to design the inside of your house. I should try to do some of that.

 

I've got a Super Bowl, a Stanley Cup (and another berth in a SC series), an MLS Cup (now defunct team), and a World Series berth in my lifetime. Can't complain too much with that.

 

Thanks! I really wanted my space to reflect my passions and likes. I wanted music, books, and travel everywhere. It's a big part of who I am.

Upstairs is definitely Mom's realm, but I've helped in the design/decor quite a bit. I've honestly got quite the knack for colors/design (#humblebrag). It's really quite a small home, but we've made it ours.

 

Also, you probably can kinda see it, but two of my blankets are actually quilts made from band shirts from high school (and another is shirts from high school/college events/things) so like I could even distill the inspirations down to little things like that.

If only I could find such focus in my actual writing.

That's awesome! I really need to find some inspiration. I think I might be going too much for something that is classy and will age well, since I only expect to be in this house 5-10 years. I have two homes I'm looking at. One that needs light renovation to make it up to date and the other that needs significantly major renovation, but that home is cheaper and I could have everything the way I want it. It's such a tough decision.

 

Here's my $0.02. Focus on the now. What you like will change throughout the years, and new paint is way cheaper than a new home. If you want a classic look right now, go for it. But if you want a rustic farm feel five years later (doubtful, just proving a point), go for it then. Mom repaints the kitchen every few years, redoes the bathroom every year or so. Life is too short to focus on what comes next in something this major when you're going to be living in it now. If that makes sense.

Also, renovation takes forever (we started March 2015 and we're still not done, we just ran out of money) and costs more than you expect. So the one that's more up to date, still may be the cheaper option.

We're just gutting some of the interior to open up space and putting in new cabinets and what not. But yeah, I'm reserving extra cash for whatever plan I go with and getting multiple quotes. Sadly, both homes need work. I just love their locations and they're cheap because they need work. The market where I'm looking is really fucked.
