I think the opinions on Feldman are garbage. It's fucking blink... not a Muse album. Enjoy it, be happy that blink has existed for 25 years. It's crappy punk rock... they could have stayed broken up and we wouldn't have anything to talk about except how we wish blink was still around and over analyzing every side project with the hopes that a song here and there resemble a blink song.

We are about to have two new blink albums in the span of 2 years... enjoy it while it last because it will all go away sooner than later.

 

I just don't understand how any huge blink fan can think California sounds terrible production-wise cause it sounds right in line with Enema and TOYPAJ to me lol.

 

Exactly - no one here is a production expert. Get over it and enjoy.

 

You don't have to be an expert to judge the quality of something.

But it sounds fine. They have worse sounding albums and worse albums in general.

 

California sounds great. Some of the songs aren't very good. A couple are.

That would imply this thread had any credibility to begin with! Haha. Also I'm not sure the prescription for curing cyclical Feldman debates is 14 more Feldman songs!

Did we already talk about the fact that tom apparently won some kind of ufo award?

 

Everyone gives Tom so much shit for this UFO stuff, but I love it. It's something that I'm fascinated in but never put in/had the time to really dive into it....and when Tom talks about it it's like a dumbed down version thats easy for someone like me to understand

 

Untitled usually. It varies with mood. Dude Ranch, Enema, TOYPAJ, TMTTS are all enjoyable from front to back.

 

At least we will have 14 new songs to discuss. Plus being selfish I loved California and have no issues with Feldmann.

 

I mean there will be an occasional "Feldmann sucks, these songs would be better with Tom" until those people are reminded there still would be zero new blink songs if it was up to Tom and then we can continue on enjoying new blink lol.

Mark and Tom's personal relationship aside, I wonder if they actually have (had) more musical common ground at this point than people think. Mark doesn't seem to be all that averse to synths and new indie kind of music, and Tom has obviously been super into that. Obviously they probably couldn't release something that wasn't necessarily guitar rock as a blink record, but do you think they could have come up with something interesting as a sort of spin off record/project?

 

Davey Havok & Jade Pudget style? Actually I think a tom/mark side project would never have been fitting for some reason.

 

With or without Tom, this songwriting is still bland and boring. That's the worst part about it. Production seems fine, but it's the actual songs that lack anything exciting.

You can hear Feldy's influence in the songs and he's just not as good as Jerry Finn was.

 

I hope one day this new version of the band treats a new album as if it was their first record and do whatever the hell they want instead of focusing on making sure it sound like blink

 

Don't mind JF too much, but I understand the gripes. Would like to see them get insight from different producers though. Does anyone follow the guys on snapchat to see if they're posting anything cool regarding the deluxe album?
