Same. I have been to a few Angels & Airwaves signings, and Tom would always sign my blink-182 items.

 

He also played a few blink songs didn't he. Not Now and one of the slower Box Car songs acoustic if memory has me close

Curious how that first verse in I Miss You was sung without Mark. Did he sing it?? Or was it like an interlude where he cut out mark? Or the crowd filled in?? When I saw them he played Down, There Is and MFPS

 

He would sing his verse and the chorus of I Miss You as an intro to the Adventure....and it sounded atrocious. Im sure you could find it on youtube somewhere.

I agree! AVA hasn't played here in Chicago since April 2010. I would definitely go see them again.

 

I agree. The last time I saw AVA was in Atlanta in early 2010 a week before I met my fiancé. I always told her I'd take her to their next show and they have literally not toured around here in these 7 years

 

The last time I saw AVA was when they opened for Weezer at MSG in 2008. That was the last time they ever played NYC.
Crazy that they managed to avoid the biggest market for almost 10 years.

Speaking of old AVA tours and performances. Remember when WDNTW first came out and Tom was super into waving his arms about and that yodeling thing he'd do when he sung??? He seemed to tone it down as the albums went on but at first Lordy lol

 

Holy moly. I mean, I know I'm a hypocrite because I've bought all of blink's records and paid a lot of money to see Tom play live, but it still makes me question reality when I think about how that guy has made millions being a musician.

 

His hair made him do it.

 

Aww, I love Tom. I really hope we get some new music from him soon. Also I'd love to see him live in any capacity whether it's AVA, solo or with blink. I just miss him. :(

I had the self titled record in my car while driving today. It's a version with "Not Now" placed after "I'm Lost Without You", and when "Not Now" ended, going into "Feeling This", I was struck by a cyclical beauty, how a song about existential worry and grappling with the last moments of life suddenly returns to a base and puerile grasping at vocalizing sexual desire and lust. And it felt natural. It's an album that begins with a song about lust and sex, ostensibly the creation of life, and "ends" (I know "Not Now" isn't the canonical closer of the album) with a song about acceptance of death. And it works. It's an album that engages with lust, desire, longing, heartbreak, angst, betrayal, paranoia, co-dependence, alienation, and death, and I think it just really nails everything it's going for. I know no album will likely ever be imprinted on my brain like this one is, because I first heard it when I was 12 and it was my favorite band at their peak releasing a new album, and I've now listened to it far too many times to count. It's a part of me. But driving home tonight past 5AM, listening to "Not Now" turn into "Feeling This", I still get more out of the record on what must be well past my millionth listen (I have no idea how many times I've actually listened to this album).

It hit pretty hard. I really love that album.
