Most rap shows do cost a lot of money (except the Waka Flocka concert I went to for 20 bucks, but it was sponsored by a fraternity). Like my friends all hopped on tickets to see Chance The Rapper, and they paid 150 a piece.

Damn. I can't fathom dropping 150 for a ticket to anyone. I think I remember Cudi playing Terminal 5 in NYC and tickets were $65 in advance before fees. I think Drai's Nightclub in Vegas might be the all time worse. Not only do they do the cheaper female ticket but the female price starts at around $50 just to get in.

    It's chaos. Be kind. Prestigious

I think the fact that Taylor from Beartooth even commented on the matter and didn't immediately reject that rumor thread kind of confirms that KTM leak, honestly.

yeah me too. I don't know the last time I was so anxious about a Warped Tour lineup. There are so many directions it can go this summer.

With Gwar cancelling the GwarBQ this year to work on their new album I just can't see them playing this

GWAR's Annual GWAR B-Q Festival To Skip A Year In 2017 As Band Prepares New Album

Edit: Does say they are preparing a new live show. So idk.
According to a press release, GWAR is "about to take on the craziest year of touring in the band's recent history, and will be destroying North America literally all year!"

Could Cute Is What We Aim For play again? Their tour with WTK ends early April, then they don't have anything announced after Slam Dunk

Just talked with Mikey from Miss Fortune last night. They'll be in the studio during Warped this summer. Had a pretty solid and honest talk with him if anyone wants to check it out: Episode 90: Mikey Sawyer (Miss Fortune) #ShamelessPlug

Here's a question. Do you think Lyman is getting older punk bands on the tour this year after the success he had last year or because other bands just weren't interested in doing Warped Tour this summer? Is Warped Tour becoming less relevant?

I think it's definitely becoming less relevant. I mean, I don't see how bands like BVB or PTV would even want to do the tour anymore. You don't grow by playing the same festival every other year in a scene where you have peaked. Then when you have bands like TWY who say they aren't going to play anymore hurts the festival because it's a "punk" festival and a big pop punk band doesn't want a part in it. And most of the older punk bands while may be a draw to people on here and older...it's not going to help ticket sales, if anything it'll hurt it.

Also, you have a ton of other growing festivals or big events that may prevent people from buying a Warped ticket.

I don't think it's uncommon for bands to outgrow Warped Tour after doing it 2 to 3 times. Bands like All Time Low and Bring Me The Horizon who slowly moved up the Warped Tour ranks. But those bands probably wouldn't be where they are without Warped Tour. I do agree that there are more music festivals now. It will be interesting to see where Warped Tour goes from here and what happens to it when Lyman decides to step down.

Yeah, I guess what I mean is BVB, MIW, and PTV have played Warped like what, 5 or 6 times now? Even if you're the biggest fan of those bands, I think you would get a little tired by the same old lineups every year. Most of the rumored bands on this year is a replica of 2015. Lyman needs to spice things up a bit, like last year's was a bit of a shock and surprise. If he continued to do that...I think he could keep Warped fresh.

I am hoping eliminating some stages helps with cost and can attract some bigger names even if for partial dates.

you just beat me to the question I was gonna ask. Warped's relevance isn't as +omg insert band here did warped" also, touring competition getting steep.

I'm also curious to see which bands if any might become the next ADTR, BMTH, ATL and transcend Warped Tour.

my mind still can't gwar maybe doing warped. If true, great but traumtized 11 year olds. I don't know if I can handle that or a toned down gwar. lol

Issues and Beartooth come to mind thinking about this.

Agreed, moreso Beartooth. ADTR and BMTH have become mainstream where they play big festivals, on the radio, etc. etc. I can see Beartooth doing that as they are already played very heavily on the radio. Issues I do not see that crossover appeal. Pierce the Veil is playing more of these national festivals and also getting radio play.

I think Lyman needs to reinvent Warped Tour or bring it back to the old days where it was a tour to see a mix of what's popular and who's up and coming. If I was running Warped, I'd have 5 stages: 2 main stages, 2 up and coming stages and 1 "local" stage. On the main stages, you'd have your heavyweight bands, your 1 or 2 big time rappers, and a mainstream act or 2. For example, the mainstage should look something like Taking Back Sunday, Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, All Time Low, Less than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Dance Gavin Dance, The Menzingers, Action Bronson, Kid Cudi, Post Malone and Jon Bellion. He needs to re-capture that mainstream appeal he had in 08 when he took out Katy Perry right when she had a hit song. The once punk fest he had is now a pop-punk/metalcore haven.

I think Issues has a lot of crossover appeal especially because they blend electronics with metalcore and because they have really catchy, poppy choruses.

Yeah i had to check the dates but this doesn't mean some of them won't do partial dates.

Sum 41 played last year. They missed the first couple of Warped dates and did the rest of the tour.
