First impressions:
The 22, A Million influence on the track is apparent but not as artful as Bon Iver - still dig it tho
The minute outro is sublime and showcases how good these guys are at ambience. I'm likely ignorant to their influences but their approach to constructing ethereal soundscapes is so potent and original that I don't think they need to lean on what others are doing. To reiterate much of the recent sentiment in this thread - I believe this is why a tease that their next album will be akin to a full length "Music for Cars" is such an enthralling prospect.

 

I disagree...I heard more of a Peter Gabriel influence, I get why you're saying that because Peter Gabriel is a huge influence for both of them, but I don't really hear 22,AM here...if anything, I hear a lot of similarities to "Beth/Rest", which Justin says he made while trying to channel Peter Gabriel

 

TIL I need to listen to Peter Gabriel, what is a good place to start?

 

I think @cshadows2887 is a better person to ask haha, I don't listen much of Gabriel's solo stuff but I do listen to Genesis, which is very different. You've definitely heard "In Your Eyes" before though! I guess So is a good album to start with, it's the only one I listen to with any sort of regularity

 

Cut them Vocal effects though

 

I love the vocoder effects on the vocals
