Were they green screened shots?

 

Definitely. They should have done paper like the last episode because I didn't even notice that one.

 

That was the first time in the whole series I thought an effect looked overly bad. The green screen effect looked so fake. It's pretty bad they chose to show that shot twice for some really.

 

No junkyard scene will ever be as bad as the one in The Office.

I thought this episode was good, but really weird at the same time. Something about it had a really ominous feel, completely different than anything else this season.

As for the main plot, they need to get on with it already. I wanted the war to begin this season but it's obvious now that the show will end with everyone ready to go to battle.

 

Haha yeah I don't understand how a show this big could do something that looked that bad. Not the first or last time though lol

 

That tiger CGI money.

 

Seeing Daryl and Carol reunite was nice

 

It was, but it didn't have the same impact as when Carol saves everyone from Terminus and she reunites with Daryl. I guess because we knew it was just a matter of time before they saw each other again.

 

It's always fun to see recycled story lines. How long before Morgan wants to go off on his own again, or before Rick questions his own morality?

I was hoping for the war followed by the 2-3 year time jump (which would be between this and next season). Then season 8 would start off in a completely different situation.

 

I think 90% of the CGI budget for the episode went to the tiger

 

Tiger look amazing so no complaints. I've never been taken out of the show due to bad effects though until that junk yard green screen fail. The effects team, both practical and digital, do an outstanding job on this show though.

 

Lol yeah the tiger looked great which made that junkyard shot so glaring in comparison

 

The scene with Carol and Daryl came right after my previous post so I hadn't seen it yet. And it was good. But at the same time, even though I love her, I question Carol's ideals now behind why she left. You became somewhat suicidal, were ready to die and wished Morgan let the Savior chasing her kill her. Then, you get help, but you decide you don't want to go back to your group because you don't like the person you're becoming and don't want to kill anymore (Even though you annihilated a car full of men on your walk to nowhere in last season's finale). When she finally opens up to Daryl, you admit you knew the Savior's would come, and you didn't want to keep killing or fight them, but you HOPE everyone is OK? Also, Daryl pities her and lies to her? The common logic is really lacking. AMC, you need to try harder. This type of choppy storytelling may go right over your younger audience, but the choices and dialogue are just not realistic sometimes.

 

I hate Carol more everytime she shows up. I'm so sick of her.

 

Season 5/6 Carol I loved. They are so inconsistent with their character development. Rick has been 5 different people since the start of the show.

 

I don't think I've ever liked Carol. Maybe for a few episodes in season 1.

Rick has mostly been great, I kind of miss crazy biting peoples throats out covered in blood Rick though.

What's with the trash crew and all having long hair and black clothes. Doesn't seem practical for heat & hair pulling zombies. Did they all meet at a Slayer gig when the apocalypse went down ?

 

Episode was average as hell, but the scenes at the junkyard were interesting to me because they felt like they were part of a 70's movie or something? I don't know whether it was a different camera they used, the backdrop, the way the sound was edited when that lady & Rick spoke (everything was eerily quiet), hell, even the colour of the sky - all of it added up to a weird retro vibe and I'm wondering whether that was intentional or not.

 

I enjoyed the episode. maybe I should rewatch but I thought the landscape scenes were cool at Trashland. Maybe I'm easy to impress but I went "wow, check out that joint"
Thread just seems to enjoy hammering the show last few pages

 

Was/Is the group at the junkyard part of the comics?

 

I'm not sure, I stopped reading about 4 episodes back

I was so intrigued by the weird Trash People, and I agree that the directing in this episode was much different than the rest of this season. Maybe that's why I...think I liked it? IDK with this show anymore.

 

This show stopped making sense/being logical a long time ago, so now I just take it for what it is. Only staying with it 'cause I want to see how this whole show resolves itself
