Haha, good luck. I think the new album is fantastic and the others are meh.

Out of all the completely unrelated bands from the last couple pages, I am on a personal level deeply hurt that nobody mentioned Carissa's Wierd, who clearly have far more technical prowess and therefore better music than any of these other dork rock bands

Mayday Parade's s/t is better than A Lesson in Romantics, which is their other really good album but is overrated due to nostalgia imo. s/t is always the one i return to

ALIR is their best album by far. Every other record has 1-3 really good songs on it, but none of their albums are 100% great start to finish.

  10. I got ALIR on vinyl as a gift for Christmas and let me tell you that album does not hold up like it did when I was 14

I think Mayday Parade deserve far more credit than they receive. I remember when Jason left the band and I thought "yeah this band is done for" then they went on to release one solid album after another. I also gotta give them credit for mixing things up every album, they usually have some curveballs in their records to shake things up which is really cool. I'll always say ALIR is my favorite for nostalgia reasons, but the S/T and MITC are great in their own right.

Actually, I think maybe Black Lines is the weakest. I liked it on first few listens but never found myself returning to it, and every time I've listened since I find it pretty dull.

I've only ever cared for ALIR, but that's a way more consistent album imo than most by their peers. Good summer time album

I like the first song on ALIR a lot but don't really care for the rest. Black Lines is a solid album.

It's just a poppier album, I can understand missing Jason (honestly, I prefer the band with just Derek on vocals) but the songs on ABH are no weaker than what's on ALIR.

Be kind; everyone is on their own journey.

Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes provided me with the AFI-like sound that I hoped the new AFI record would produce, but failed.

I have no idea who that is, but your comparison on AFI just sold me into checking them out!

Yep! and I even like pt 2 and 3.

I wasn't familiar with them either, but I had tried AFI's new one, got maybe 3 tracks in and it didn't really sit well...saw Frank (former Gallows lead singer) recommended in another thread, and felt it was what I was hoping AFI would be like. I've listened to it a lot since and really like it.

That's cool, thanks! The only time I ever saw AFI live, Gallows opened for them and were cool. The new AFI was just ok overall, but Still A Stranger and Pink Eye are the tracks from that album I love. Pink Eye is later in the album, you should check that one song out, its faster paced and what I want from them overall.

Back Against the Wall is the most underrated song from PUP.
