watching my little cousin play rainbow six siege is making me want to get it so badly.

 

I'll back this one too.

 

The pro is great. Graphics are top notch, super fast, really sleek and smooth design. BUT IM STILL HAVING THE WORST GLITCH WHEN HDR IS ON. HI SONY, CUSTOMER WHO PAID FOR THE HIGHEST QUALITY GAMING CONSOLE FROM YOU HERE. ITS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY BECAUSE OF YOUR SOFTWARE. Fixplzty

Really? What don't you like about it? I haven't really found anything to be something I didn't like except my screen flashing black when HDR is on.

 

I mean the design of the console itself, it looks very clunky to me. I think most consoles aren't pretty though. The Wii was, I guess (at least for it's time).

 

The PS4 might be my favourite console design. Maybe the Gamecube. The pro looks too stacked for me with three layers but I haven't seen one in real life so could just be an illusion.

 

Switch looks pretty nice too.

 

The Switch is okay, but that's a different thing because it has to be ergonomic and shit. A console does not have those constraints. The regular PS4 is fine I guess, but straight lines always age better than angles if you ask me.

The Gamecube is a good one, it's very pretty and timeless, except maybe the handle.

 

I was going to say: The GameCube looks like a lunch box.

 

Lunch boxes are ace.

 

Right, the handle isn't great, but luckily you won't see it in most situations, and otherwise the cube design is really good. It still looks good and usually no console ages well. I guess the wood plated Atari 2600 also looks good still.

 

It's aged about as well as the station wagon from the movie Vacation.

 

I think the Playstation 1 still looks pretty neat, always liked that one.

I accidentally said I'd go see Save Ferris with a friend the day the Switch comes out. I'm a doofus.

 

As someone who loved the design of the regular PS4, the Slim is my favorite console design out. XB1S is decent as well.

 

Lucky for you you can take it on the go.

 

Also saving Zelda >>>>>>>> saving ferris. Let's be honest.

 

I haven't kept up with consoles at all this gen - can someone explain the tech differences between PS4 standard, pro, and slim?

 

@thethingis Standard and slim are the same, but slim is smaller and has more or less replaced the standard one as the low-tier PS4. The Pro is a stronger version of the PS4, which means some games (and PSVR) run better. It's not a PS5 though.

 

Standard = slim, the slim is just a redesigned version. Pro has support for 4K and HDR gaming (and apps like Netflix, but no 4K blu-ray movie support) and is a bit beefier so game performance is generally better than it is on a slim/standard system.

 

So is slim still a good deal at $250 or is pro the way to go at this point? I don't have a 4K tv and don't expect to anytime soon

 

@thethingis The 4K is hardly why I'd get a Pro, it's not like 99% of these games run in true 4K anyway. What makes it interesting is the possibility of games actualy getting to 1080p/60fps more often. I would say if you're hardcore about it, or if you want to play a lot of PSVR, or if you can get a good deal on the Pro, get a Pro, otherwise a Slim is just fine.
