The black background is on the vinyl versions of California already.

Damn every time I visit chorus and get that notification that there are new replies in the Blink thread, I get so freaking excited that a new single or a release date for the deluxe has been announced lol.

New album cover, 14 songs with many of them newly written (and not from the California sessions) and it's somehow not a new album

Does it really matter if it's a new album or labeled as a deluxe edition? We're getting 14 new songs from the band. Just enjoy the ride.

An interview he did with Nick Major of Alternative Press before the Grammy's. A two minute video is on Alt Press' Facebook or Twitter

According to Mark and Travis the record label didn't want them to put out a new album so soon so instead it's just being listed as a deluxe version of California. I get where the record label is coming from considering blink hasn't even toured California overseas yet and the album is still doing well sales wise.

But hey 14 new songs is 14 new songs, I remember them talking about putting out an EP and us on here just being excited we might get 4 or 5 new songs.

I'm sure the label just asked themselves: what looks better, two albums released within a year of each other that each sold around 450k, or one massive album that will eventually go platinum? Not only will it be Blink's first certified album since 2003, but also it looks amazing for a brand new record label to have their first release be certified by the RIAA within a year of release.

I just want new tunes now! I'm very optimistic that these new songs will blow the original album out of the water.

As long as we get one song that made me feel the way San Diego did I'll be good

I wonder if there'll be a new vinyl release for this. I'm 90% sure there will be considering they could make a ton of money off of new pressings.

I'm been half paying attention to not get myself too excited, but have they come out and said if Feldman is producing these 14 new songs?

As cool it is to be getting a "new album" I fear the possibility of over-saturation of the California sound. I'll still enjoy this regardless and I appreciate any new blink music, but if Feldman is involved I'm cautiously nervous of getting 30 similar sounding songs in a year.

Someone convince me not to fear!

I don't think they'll be repeating anything they did with Dogs Eating Dogs lol. Sure there will be a physical. With 100% less Yelawolf!

I think DED was just the brain child of Tom. I mean his idea wasn't wrong....the traditional label is dead and an artist can release an album on their own and only sell/stream digitally and become wildly popular. But Blink is just too established to pull shit like that. It works for Chance the Rapper cuz he's new and his fan base is mostly teenagers who are all about that digital life. If Tom just took five minutes to see Blink's album sales broken down physical vs. digital he would've realized that most of their sales are physical.

I don't know anything about California but back when I had a soundscan account for work I checked up on Neighborhoods and there were a whole lot more physical sales. I only remember this because the next album I checked was Alt-J's second album and I was shocked at how much of a difference it was. Something like 70% of their sales were digital.

  25. I'd be willing to bet California does more in streaming/digital than physical sales.
