Anyone know what happened to 5ive? They seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth.

New Sunlight's Bane is pretty gnarly. It's streaming at Invisible Oranges through the link below. I can't figure out how to get it to embed because I'm a doofus. Blackened, crusty grindcore will always be backed in my book. The vocalist also used to be in the deathcore band And Hell Followed With.

Has anyone heard of Young and In the Way? Great Black Metal/Crust Punk/Thrash sort of in the vein of Trap Them but more black metal.

young and in the way is pretty cool, nothing special and a little gimmicky in their imagery but good when im in the mood for that stuff

I don't know if I would go so far as to call them "nothing special" but I can see where they would get lost in a mix of similar sounding bands. Anything black metal influenced is good in my book.

Any thoughts on Dead to Fall?

Currently listening to "Are You Serious?"
It's pretty funny but actually pretty good!

I used to dig them quite a bit. Haven't listened in a while, but I know they're touring again and I'd probably go if they came close by.

Is it the lack of vocals? Do you listen to a lot of other progressive metal or djent bands?

it's just their overall sound. djent is totally lost on me, though I do really enjoy Meshuggah. (And it's debatable if they even count). Prog metal, yes, but only to an extent. I tend to like it more when bands incorporate progressive elements without being insanely show-offy or whatever. And some of my favorite bands are Russian Circles, Pelican, etc so the lack of vocals don't bother me. I guess djent will just never be my thing ha.

I can totally understand. They are not for everyone. I don't think they really fit into the mold of either Djent or Progressive but pretty much tour with a lot of those bands. I have caught them on tours with Periphery, BTBAM, Dillinger Escape Plan and Tesseract.

I saw AAL open for Obrother and Thrice, and holy crap were they good live. Never really liked their albums, up until their last one that came out last year. that one was top notch

Their songs are kinda meh to me; I just listen to them to witness the technical mastery that is Tosin Abasi

Same dude, that tour was the nuts. Tosin is a god.

I didn't care for AAL much until I saw them live.. also on the Thrice tour.

It was kinda fun watching their drummer play when I saw them on Thrice's farewell tour, but their set really dragged for me. O'Brother and Thrice were fantastic though

AAL toured with Thrice? Huh. Kind of an odd pairing, but that's pretty cool, haha.

doesn't that power trip album not come out for another few weeks?

  25. Ferrari333SP

Yeah I thought it came out at the end of next week, but then a few days ago I got an email notification that they shipped my pre-order, so maybe it's just an early release for those who pre-ordered it
