I agree its worth it but he was honestly so disheartened after the H&R rep we talked to told us he couldn't even apply because he doesn't qualify by numbers. I couldn't tell him there's a good chance he'll get it.

Unrelated to anything: I was listening to the Cracked podcast yesterday. It was about villains that were actually heroes. They came to a section about the Matrix, wherein they spoke about the mythology and, you know, it seems like humans sort of deserved what happened to them.

 

Damn...I used HRBlock for years doing my own taxes, swithced to TurboTax the last couple....hope HRBlock didn't screw me out of money haha

 

That's the funny part about being scared of AI. Dystopian portrayals of machine uprising basically always end up being the machines 1) defending themselves or 2) acting with the moral high ground.

 

Legitimately curious, do you believe after a conversation/confrontation where these things are pointed out to Milo and made to defend himself that somehow he'll come to reason and see the damage his speeches and provocations have harmed people (assuming that he either doesn't see it or doesn't care or actually wants those results), that he was in the wrong, and that he'll change or at least admit to...something? What do you think the most likely outcome is of what you're hoping someone does or what do you hope would be the result of something like this?

I just don't see how anyone whose entire worldview is predicated upon others being "better" or "worse" based on race, sexual orientation, birth and/or transition gender, etc, or certain people having "natural" inclinations to certain actions or positions in society being able to have that worldview challenged and changed or rebuilt through conversation. But, I want to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Do all states tax state return money the following year? NC sent me a 1099 for $157 from last year and I actually laughed at it. Thaaaat's not getting filed.

 

I don't think so....I don't think my state does. I forget actually. I know I didn't get a 1099 for mine from lsat year

 

I need to learn how to do taxes. My mom is CPA and does mine for free which is awesome.

 

I paid up a couple years ago, last time it happened, because I still lived in the state. I feel like it was a rather recent addition to NC tax laws, because I got money back nearly every year for like 7 years from the state without getting a 1099 the next year.
