I edited my post. And why did you say you don't know what to think of it

    This isn't feminist lol

  3. My slightly irrelevant take, as I don't wear hijab/am not a Muslim woman: I wish western and European feminism could figure out a way to make their points without throwing other women under the bus (in this case, the many women who choose to wear hijab). You can protest the law without behaving as though the practice itself is inherently bad.

Anna kinda touches upon some of my thoughts above and I agree with you.

It's just that criticism of them seems like a mixed bag of actual feminist critique and Islamaphobia.

I've always been fine with the hijab as long as it's a choice and there are many hijabis who consider themselves feminists. So if they chose to wear a hijab I understand but.... technically it's not a choice in this case.... also I am a man... so I don't really know what to think of it.

My mom had to ask permission from my dad to have her tubes tied after she had my sister or the docs wouldn't do it. I don't know if that's still a thing since it was 1989 but I just found out about it from my dad.

Yeah I mean in the case of appeasing govts/places that mandate it, it undermines the women of those countries who are suffering and that's never really mentioned. So, I don't consider this particular instance feminist. They have a choice in the West, but in many of their countries of heritage, they wouldn't. And so, millions of women do not. It's about not dismissing women who are suffering. And I feel like that's what is being done here.

I see your point. Also helps me understand the issue better.

I think on a matter like this it is best to listen to opposition voices of those who are directly affected rather than criticism from the west.

bleh i wish those emails were worse... all they confirm is that he's an asshole. I dont know if that's enough? I mean if its, awesome, but i dont think these emails are enough to get a judge to change its mind or whatever.

    feel so bad for her

I doubt it will help. Most people who have had legit rape kits done never see their abusers face any kind of punishment. If you can get off with that much proof, those emails won't do much, imo. I'm glad she released them tho bc it could help others who are being abused and maybe don't even realize it.

The ppl in my office were talking about abortions and how hard it would be and how they could never and I was like screw that I'd get one if I got pregnant rn! They looked all pearl clutchy and judgmental but tbh I hate the idea that the decision is like harrowing for everyone. Of course idk how difficult or not it'd really be unless I was in the situation which I've never been, but I know I'm not ready for kids, idek if I want them at all, and unless I get a big raise I'd not be able to afford them. And I like my freedom. Like I'm not sry about that. I take precautions but if they failed yeah sry not having a kid rn. Idk I just hate the whole attitude surrounding it and this is me rambling about it.
