Yeah, that's maybe the worst take that I've seen related to this album

 

The chorus on House On Fire was definitely the first melody on the album that stuck with me, but the more I listen it kind of falls by the wayside.

 

Your Wild Years is definitely the Casey of this album the more I listen to it. Holy f

Unpopular Opinion - Casey isn't that good. There's easy half a dozen better on OTIP alone.


I do still read that song being about mates not about the opposite sex though, so...

 

haven't even listened to House On Fire all the way through because it's so boring

 

House on fire and Casey are both top notch

 

Will Yip killed it on this. He has been on a nice little roll

 

This is making me excited for what the new Circa sounds like

 

I don't love Casey the way most people love Casey but I still think it's a great song on an album of great songs

Hmm favorite moment of their discography is an interesting question. My friend Chris comes to mind because that song breaks my heart every time. But they have a lot of perfect moments

 

I loved OTIP so much, but I had such a violent knee-jerk reaction to Rented World that I probably only listened to it twice then pretended it didn't exist. This sounds great four songs in.

 

You're missing out. Give it another chance.

Re the pitchfork review: the actual review is fine although I definitely like the album more than Cohen seems to. His only complaints are that it's a bit long, and the mix.
For the score, the reviewer and the editor/s agree on a range and I'm guessing the editors then went on the lower side of that range.

My main thought is why even review this record? The band is five albums in and the only coverage they have had before on there was a track review of Asshole.

 

Maybe I'm in the minority for thinking that this is the perfect length. Every time it ends, I just want to start it over and listen again.

Agreed. Not every song can be Lookers but I wouldn't cut any. Same with OTIP the weakest track is maybe Ava House but I'd keep it.

 

LOVE House On Fire. In my top 3 songs from ATP.

I'll read the review soon, but as far as what people are saying about Casey, I agree. While I do love it, it's low on the list of top OTIP songs for me. With Ava House, Mexican Guitars and Good Things.
