I'm just nitpicking about it in the end. Ultimately, it feels like they've just stepped it up another notch to produce another amazing release.

It took me some time to get into Power Trip because of the reverb on Manifest. LOVE them now though.

I think I can confidently say that the new Power Trip album will be leagues better than the new Mastodon if this track is any indication of the direction this album is going in...I really hope this is just the radio single.

Still pretty confident about the new Mastodon. That being said, Power Trip is gonna be the album to beat this year.

So were they on that Monoliths tour? Am I remembering correctly?

No earthly idea. The show I saw them at was in 08 with Kayo Dot and Steve Brodsky. Totally got my dates mixed up until I Googled it.

Should I have gone to see Mayhem play De Mysteriis in its entirety last night? Not even a big fan of the band or that era of BM, but it would have been kind of a once in a lifetime thing.

Also Blood Incantation is doing a west coast tour and I WILL be going to that.

I was wondering about that Mayhem show too.

Will definitely go see Blood Incantation though.

^Go see them. One of the best death metal bands I've ever seen live. Even the in-between song banter is about obfuscating the linear threshold and traveling through wormholes.

New Power Trip is somehow even better than Manifest Decimation and I fucking love that album. Title track SHREDS.

Remarkable album. Mercy Liberation is an all time goosebump moment.

Wow i did not think death metal and Christians would ever be able to be a thing and then Impending Doom comes along. And they do this death metal shit good! Glad i found them

Impending Doom does the deathcore bit fairly well. I will always back Zao, they are pretty much the fathers of metalcore. Another solid Christian death (life?) metal band is Becoming the Archetype:

It's a criminally underrated album. Better than their debut and Lazarus Bird by a fair margin...

Yeah, they really hit the sweet spot I think. I found at the perfect moment as well, when I was moving outward from Opeth and had just started listening to CoL. I'll be listening to nothing but this for awhile. Thanks for the trip down memory lane haha.

    EDIT: Haha, 2005. Didn't realise.

Not sure if this is the right place to put this (it's maybe not as traditionally metal as other stuff on here), but I'm really enjoying that album Bury Tomorrow put out last year. Such a big step up and there's some great song writing on there.

Becoming The Archetype were SOOOOO good. Then Jason left and they made that album "I Am" which was crap.
