It literally looks like the Samurai version of Dark Souls. It's inevitable.

You act like it's a bad thing!

 

They've even said it was a huge influence on the game. There won't be any reviews that don't mention it

 

I mean it's clear it's a huge influence on the game and I think that's a good thing. More games should be influenced by souls. I just don't know why every review needs to spend most of the time comparing it to those games instead of just talking about this game in particular and its own strengths and weaknesses.

 

I just thought the look of nioh was awesome but these souls comparisons are turning me off.

 

In what aspect? Difficulty?

 

Nioh is the hardest thing I've ever played in my entire life.

 

Call of Duty 2 on veteran is the hardest thing I've ever played in my life.

 

Call of Duty 2 veteran is easy mode compared to Nioh

 

I haven't played Nioh yet, I'll get back to you.

I couldn't beat the first enemy haha. Then I ran past him and found 4 enemies that eviscerated me within a second.

 

Ill get Nioh just to get past Dirty! lol

 

Have you played any of the souls games?

 

Nope, almost bought bloodborne when it was on sale for $8 the other month, but I figured it was too hard.

 

They really aren't that hard. It's just trial and error. The reason most people have a hard time with them is the saving feature and the unforgiving nature of losing your gear, XP, souls, etc.

 

I think there's just a steep learning curve that can be initially intimidating. After that they're still difficult but definitely manageable.

 

Mostly yeah. Souls games have also never really appealed to me from a gameplay perspective. Aesthetic and style though is all phenomenal.

 

I tried the first enemy over and over for an hour lol. I went back and mastered the tutorial again. The tutorial was great! I was like "this game is going to be great fun!"

 

Yeah gameplaywise Nioh looks almost identical but apparently it's even harder.

 

If this was getting comparisons to say a Ninja Gaiden I'd be more on board. Different strokes for different folks though. Now I just have Horizon to look forward to.

 

I was going to say that before, that everyone here is talking about how hard Dark Souls is. Play a Ninja Gaiden game and report back.

 

Ninja Gaiden was such a good game.

 

I played those and could get through it haha.

Had it on original Xbox, so there were no achievements!

and by them, I had Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden Black. Never played 2.
