I'm only saying it looks unlikely we will get "anything" before the tour. Whatever is coming this year is after the tour, in the Fall (definitely agree with you there. Part of me was secretly hoping it would be earlier in the year as opposed to later.

 

I think they release this one and call it a day. Calling it now.

Which would you all pick if you could:

1) Brand New releases LP5, followed by indefinite hiatus

2) Brand New release a DVD with a live show recorded as well as a documentary / interview thing with and about the bands history followed by hiatus.



I honestly think I'd choose the latter at this point. (Not that it matters, just fun discussion)

 

Always new music. But the live DVD would be amazing too.

I think they will do a proper final tour when they do call it a day. I also think we will get something before the tour. An announcement or something, we definitely aren't getting the album before then but I think we will at least know when the album is coming.

 

I'd be okay with the latter. I'm happy with the discography that we've been given.

 

How about option 2 with new/unreleased music bits sprinkled throughout the documentary just to drive everyone nuts?

 

I'd definitely take new music over a live DVD. If they release a live DVD/documentary, I could see that happening after they hang it up. They certainly have no shortage of material to draw from for that based on the Mene video.

The last minute of this is unreal. One of my favorite Brand New performances.

 

I thought if they released it on the schedule of Mene, we would get another album, as that album would be close to around a year old now, alotting them another album cycle with a release around 2018/2019 for a final album. However, because of the delays, I see this as their last album.

 

We already KNOW this is the year. They specifically said so in the PM!T newsletter

 

for a two track EP

 

That newsletter left them room to not give us an LP.

I believe it will be an LP, but I don't expect it. I will be pleasantly surprised with anything.

 

It's been one year since they first played Mene live.

 

Damn.

 

I feel like I've been thinking this for the last 3 years

either way, i used to think of this band as the end all be all as far as my favorite music goes. while they will always hold a special place with me, i've since moved on, found other bands that i appreciate and listen to more music now than i ever have in my life. if we never see any more material from them ever, i'm fine with that.

 

Sigh. I'm getting to this point too. I first realized it when I stopped caring about seeing them live about three years ago. I have just been so bored by their predictable sets and lack of newness that I had no other choice.

That said, I will always appreciate some news coming from them or whatever they turn into after the group inevitably disbands. And I will definitely continue to revisit TDAGARIM & Daisy.

 

Well this is turning in to a depressing defeatist thread! Cheer up everyone, we are getting new Brand New. It will most likely be an album (people read waay too much into the "unconfirmed format" PM!T newsletter)

 

I'm not sure about the rest of the band, but I feel like Vinnie would definitely continue with music. I would love to see a solo project from him.

 

At this point I want them to say if there will be an LP5 more than I actually want LP5 to exist, just so the speculation is over lol
