I guess I do also have an anti-Supes bias. lol. I'm trying really hard to give every Rebirth book a shot and it is the one I just didn't want to love. The family dynamic works for me. It reminds me a bit of Renew Your Vows. I may need to pick up that Lois and Clark book afterall.

So far, the only book I haven't been fully on board with was Aquaman.

I think the reason I give Marvel such a pass is because I follow these stories a lot closer than I ever have anything DC.

Lois and Clark really is good, and Superman has continued to be good. Once you get past, "oh my goodness how do I like Superman!?" I think you'll really like it. ;-)

Like, there's an issue that's just the family hanging out at a carnival. And two issues of Jonathan and Damien fighting like children while Clark and Bruce talk about fatherhood. Renew Your Vows really is a good comparison.

I totally relate to following Marvel more closely, lol.

I'm totally more interested and able to understand The Flash timelines than I am anything Multiverse related.

I'm with @Henry I'm willing to check out all the new Rebirth Vol just cuz and just ended up not really caring about Superman in Vol 1. Still plan to check out Action Comics and Vol 2 when it comes out.

I'd like to believe that, somewhere in the multiverse, there's a Colby with a good taste in comics. ;-)

That's probably on an Earth that doesn't exist yet!

Besides not ALL of my comics opinions are bad, just some...

*whispers* Captain America isn't a Nazi.

I mean, I'm completely uninterested in everything Nick Spencer does from now on due to him being a trash person, which has bled into his Captain America story. But, at the same time, at the hands of a politically competent writer, Steve Rogers brainwashed into becoming Hydra while Sam Wilson wrestles with what it means to be Captain America could be a fantastic storyline perfect for the time we live in today.

So Batman Rebirth is pretty damn good.

Also read Road To Riverdale which is just the #1 issues of all the relaunched Archie comics with a few extras.

King and Finch hyping the hell out of I Am Bane

"King: You know that moment at the end of the great movie, where the hero has to face off with the villain, and you just know one of these two people can't live on Earth anymore? And it's just going to take everything each of them have to get the other wiped off? That's what this is. This is two men enter Gotham and only one leaves. And out of that you're going to get the greatest battle in the history of Batman.

Finch: I would say this is not the kind of comic where there's a three page fight scene and everybody talks about what happened in the fight. I got to draw so much. It's still going on. It's crazy. I can't think of a time in my whole career where I've had a chance to just open up and draw of this real crazy fight scene between two characters. It's been an absolute blast for me. The time of my career right now."

Just a heads up, the new issue of the Walking Dead is only going to be 25 cents tomorrow and they just finished a major storyline so it might be worth picking up even if you haven't caught up.

I finished Batman Rebirth Vol 1.

It was good and all but I'm not quite sure I understood what was going on at the end

I'm in the camp that didn't care for Batman, but I also don't get excited about the character in general, lol.

I do have to regularly give props to the series for being the best looking book David Finch has ever been part of, though. A lot of that I put on Jordie Bellaire, who is definitely my favorite colorist at this point. More artists with that style should go for expert coloring like that. Like, even Rob Liefeld art would probably look really good if colored the way Bellaire does Batman.

Which part, not caring about Batman or thinking there's a way for a Liefeld drawing to look good? Both are pretty controversial claims, lol.

    Haha Batman!

I will agree on the Liefield front although it would still likely have giant guantlets and armor and such that would be ridiculous

Ha, yeah. Like, Liefeld should never be allowed to draw the female figure again. Even by 90s standards, his women look terrible, even today. But, if he drew an Old Man Logan story where he fought, like, Omega Red or something, and Bellaire did the colors, it'd probably be pretty cool. Ridiculous, sure, but that's not always a bad thing.

As for Batman... I like him as a flawed member of an ensemble. I don't like him as some BA action hero who can beat anyone with enough advance planning.

Gotcha, I guess I never realized you weren't much of a Bats fan. So do you read alot of like JL stuff that he's apart of?

Nah, I haven't read a lot of Justice League yet, but I do think he's probably more likable in that setting, depending on the writer. It's a funny example, but I do love him in what I've read of him in the 80s Justice League International, where he was almost a satire of his usual dark and brooding self, especially when interacting with Guy Gardner (and punching him in the face, lol).

Anymore, my favorite Batman stories tend to be the ones where he's not the main character. I love that Gordon is just as much the main character in Year One as Bruce, if not more. The first arc of Detective Comics Rebirth was great 'cause he was just one piece of the puzzle. The same with what I've read of Batgirl, Batwoman, Catwoman, Gotham Central, and a very little bit of Nightwing. I just find the outsider perspective on the character and his world more interesting most of the time than the stories of him as some awesome lone ranger type fighting evildoers.

Bennett's Red Sonja run is pretty darn boring. I can see why it wasn't well received. That and it needs more bewbs.

The art is great though. I wish Sauvage got more interior work on books I'm into. The little bit I've seen is always wonderful.
