Yep. The only horror podcast I've stuck with

I can't stand the host, Eric, right? Or is that his brother?

His mic level is so much higher than the rest of the people, which creates a weird sound at least to me. You'll have Joe and John talking loudly while Eric just interrupts EVERYONE but while speaking at a normal volume (because he's so close to the mic and his levels are through the roof).

I can't stand people that interrupt, so it's hard to listen to that show. What's worse is that Eric and his brother both do it, and they're aware of it because they bring it up from time to time.

Bottom line, Eric has the "listen to me because I'm the Editor in chief" attitude and only waits for his turn to speak rather than be part of the conversation.

If you want to try another podcast, that covers some obscure stuff along with topical titles, check out Death By Stereo on iTunes.

I used to write with the two guys that host it, they're from Brooklyn so their attitudes/accents come through.

Dread Central's Dinner for Fiends was also good, though basically defunct.

Yeah Eric interrupts everyone and acknowledges it often. Occasionally two people will be talking at once and I'll have to rewind it, but overall I like the repoire between the group and they're really funny.

One thing I like about Eric is that he pushes to review movies that are a little outside the genre and enjoys things that are dumb fun. Like Pride + Prejudice + Zombies made his top ten for the year

I like the banter just fine, and the discussion on the covered movies are good too. But Eric's "short man syndrome" comes through a little too strong. He's like 5'4 by the way. He overcompensates his small stature by making his voice bigger than others.

I honestly don't know why I'm analyzing him like this, haha.

Didn't realize "Rings" initial release date was November 2015. That's crazy, re-shoots were finished in July 2015. The release dates were pushed 3-4 times. Is that normal for a sequel?

Reshoots aren't abnormal for a studio film, but the many release date pushes don't bode well. It usually means the studio tested it and it received really bad scores, so it has been retooled in one way or another.

Blair Witch manages to simultaneously be not at all what made the original movie interesting or innovative, and also entirely pedestrian. good lord, what a pointless and overblown reboot.

Watched The Good Neighbor today. Not sure how I feel about it. Definitely not horror pretty much just had a super depresssing ending, and not even really a twist. I could tell he didn't kill his wife. Ultimately the main characters were unchanged from the events, and the movie had nothing to say. I enjoyed it up until the twist.

I watched Sadako vs Kayako last night. I felt it took too long to get started and for them to encounter each other and do their thing. I did find the ending entertaining how they morphed into one more powerful spirit instead of fighting to the death like what was supposed to happen but I was pretty bored leading up to it. I expected it to be more campy and fun since the premise is ridic lol.

After watching Blair Witch the other night (and hating it), I started thinking about the best "found footage" horror films. These movies work because they actually use the found footage perspective to effectively build tension and/or horror, instead of simply relying on cheap jump scares. Viewing things from a single, limited perspective can be really effective in horror when it's done right. I love that you never actually see the Blair Witch in the original movie, for instance.

The best found footage movies imo are:
    1. V/H/S
    2. Rec
    3. Cloverfield
    4. The Blair Witch Project
    5. As Above, So Below

Honourable mentions: The Visit, Rec 2, V/H/S 2, Unfriended, Paranormal Activity, Afflicted

I still don't think anyone has done it more effectively than Paranormal Activity.

I know they get a lot of hate from some, but I love all of the Paranormal Activity movies. I haven't seen the latest one yet tho

I love the first and enjoy the second and third, but there was a serious law of dimension returns that made the latter entries ineffective. The last one is nearly unwatchable.

The Marked Ones is probably my favourite, followed by the original

The Visit might be my favorite found footage movie. Then again I've only seen it once.

Trying to think of a least favorite but I can't think of any I've seen and didn't enjoy

I really dislike these films, all very underwhelming imo:

    Creep
    Devil's Due
    Blair Witch
    Diary of the Dead

People really liked Creep and I didn't get why. Besides two good scenes it was like, the most tepid horror movie ever
