Jesus, are people still in denial?

He's going back for a year. Gives him even more time to build his name up even more, so then next year WWE will back the money truck up.

Do you guys think this hurts the way he'll be booked in NJPW this year? Before all of this, it seemed likely he'd become the IWGP Heavyweight champ. Do you think NJPW will still push him that high knowing that the chances of him leaving in a year are considerably high?

If they don't push him hard he's guaranteed gone next year.

I think the cards are in his hand on this one.

I don't think so. They know if they don't push him, he's gone for sure. If he does get pushed and it goes well, he may have incentive to stay. NJPW is in a tough spot with him for sure

Late on this, but I've been wanting to go to the rumble for years, and I've also wanted to go to philly

NJPW is highly respected and a lot of foreign wrestlers (to Japan) aspire to get there. I would think they wouldn't want to hurt that reputation by not giving their most popular gaijin the push he deserves.

It's better to expect he's not there and it be a huge markout moment. NJPW is awesome but you'd have to think he'll be at WWE by next year. I love how all the press was actually stoked for him if he does get the opportunity, that's awesome.

If I'm Kenny, I definitely sign my new NJWP contract to expire January 25th 2018. Even if he isn't planning on going to WWE then, it lets him continue to mess with everyone.

Yeah, but if you're NJPW, you want it to be one-year from date of signing because it's better for your product to not have one of your stars rumored to be in the 2018 Royal Rumble. I'm assuming since Kenny said he's going to sign the deal at some point next month that we can (somewhat) safely assume that Omega will be still under contract come this time next year.

Although there are some that will be disappointed that we have to wait a year to see Omega in a WWE ring, let's also not forget that we've got Finn Balor returning, Chris Hero/Kassius Ohno back at NXT, and (likely) Adam Cole signing with WWE in May.

2017 is still going to be pretty damn cool

I think he has enough pull to sign whatever contract he wants. If you're NJPW, you'd rather have 11 more months of Kenny than none.

  16. Let's predict who will be the final 8:

    1. Samoa Joe
    2. Finn Balor
    3. JBL
    4. Tye Dillinger
    5. Kane
    6. Apollo Crews
    7. James Ellsworth
    8. Kurt Angle

Oddly, I think the most money he could make with WWE is right now, in the sense that he's as hot as hes ever been.

But with AJ and Cena dominating Smackdown (and presumably Joe coming up), and all the people at the top of RAW + Finn coming back, Im not sure there'd be anywhere for him to go.

If we end up in 2018 like we were in 2016, with all the injuries, he could cash in big time. But its just as likely he's down the NJPW card, not main eventing and making the whole wrestling world talk about him

The chances of NJPW signing him to a one year deal seems slim.

@Mick and I fantasy booked the Rumble match in our latest podcast episode for anyone interested (Spoiler alert: Mick had Tye at 11 instead of 10!)

We also name-drop the Chorus.fm wrestling forum in the episode :)

They will. They're desperate for talent after getting raided before. They need Omega right now, especially with the US shows this year.

Now that Kenny is out, the biggest mystery remains whether Tye comes out at 10 or not.

Honestly, he deserves it. Him coming out at 10 would probably be the biggest high of his career, he's done a lot for NXT, just let it happen.

Yeah he's basically in the position Breeze was in when he was in NXT. Hopefully he doesn't get the same treatment after the call up.
