OK thanks. I knew I was talking w/ another user on the subject, I wasn't confusing you with them - I just realized you liked his posts so it was just an assumption that you agreed with him, is all. I don't think it's a big deal now though. And I don't think Ubi are above criticism, believe me. I just joke about it considering how they get singled out among other companies. Higher the framerate the better for me with games

 

The two don't apply since film doesn't rely on input like gaming does. Need better interlacing methods with film for higher frame rate recording to be worthwhile.

 

I've never really noticed a problem with 30fps, I don't care what p a game is in either. I'm a scrub.

 

It's clear that Ubisoft mostly do a great job in terms of diversity, and are certainly much better than other developers in that department. But yeah, we're cool now and it's not a big deal so let's just talk about video games haha

So...thoughts on Resi7?

 

The monkey island games are so funny, and are some of the best point and click games ever to be made, so make sure to play that at some point if you like those style games.

 

My current thoughts not having bought it yet. The demo gave me anxiety and knowing that I only got one of the endings in a demo makes me more anxious.

 

Can anyone confirm whether or not The Beginning Hour demo is part of the main RE7 game? My friend has been putting screenshots in the group chat that looks exactly like the demo, despite Capcom saying it WON'T be in the main game?

 

Sort of. That was the guest house to the main mansion. You start off there but things play out differently. It's actually pretty damn smart because a lot of the scares play to your expectations from the demo. I'm pretty sure the video that you found in the demo is exactly the same in the game though. Also, I think I might know what the finger was referencing, and if so it's hilarious.

I played two hours of Resident Evil 7 and it's so much better than I was hoping, let alone expecting. Everything is top notch, the performances are surprisingly great (there's a cheesy phone call at the beginning that feels like old Resi dialogue but besides that it plays it a lot more serious), the graphics are actually tremendous, you don't spend much time in the light but holy hell it looks gorgeous. The characters aren't Uncharted 4 or Mafia 3 level realistic looking but pretty damn close. There was a moment where I was standing behind a character in a dark hallway and it looked SO much like a found footage film, I wasn't brought back into the game world until she turned around and got in my face.

Combat is really fun. Remember how enemies reacted to your hits in Condemned? Yeah it feels like that, but better. Within the 2 hours they were constantly throwing something new and exciting at me, I think I'm just finally now starting to settle into the main gameplay. Boss battles are fun as fuck, one in particular in the garage had my jaw dropped the entire game.

I've giggled like a child from pure happiness at least 3 times, haha.

The sort of puzzle solving from the demo and PT does not really seem to be present here. They want to keep the pace moving, which is admirable, there has not been anything close to a slow moment. I did read in the reviews there are plenty of hidden secrets though, so maybe that's where that sort of stuff will come into play.

I am all in on the mystery. Thus far this has been one of the best presented horror stories I've played in a game. Hoping that holds up all the way through.

If you have never played Resident Evil before it doesn't matter at all. I'm assuming they'll tie it together at some point but this really feels like it's own thing.

and I guess what you want to know more than anything. ITS FUCKING TERRIFYING. I had to take my headphones off a few times and just play through the speakers, the ambient noises are just excruciating.

EDIT: Play on normal and don't be afraid to die because the death animations are varied and awesome. Think Alien Isolation turned to 11

 

RE7 sounds really great. If it weren't for Yakuza 0/DQVIII, I would have picked it up today.

I'll probably post some Yakuza 0 thoughts in a bit, because why not.

holy cow now I'm even more excited to play RE7 tomorrow!!! Glad that it seems super scary too

 

Looks average at best from what I have seen (watched a Twitch stream for a few hours). Gameplay looks boring, setting is mainly just a bunch of boring corridors and it had minimal scares. Decently tense, looks great and the sound design is solid though.

 

I needed something to calm down between Resi play sessions so I started Hitman and it's really good. I knew it was going to be since I watched like all of Giant Bomb's quick looks on it (which were hilarious) but it just feels so damn fun to play. I'm not one to replay levels over and over for different results but I think I'll have some fun with this.

 

Got selected to a closed PS4 beta for For Honor this weekend. Not sure why, but whatever. Also have 3 invites for anyone on PS4/Uplay.

 

RE7 is fantastic so far. I'm only an hour or so in and it's already the most terrifying game I've ever played. It kinda reminds me of some of the scarier segments from the V/H/S movies. If this level of tension and horror can be maintained throughout the entire game, I'll be very happy (and scared shitless).
