Gameplay-wise? Resounding yes. But to be honest you can't really compare them. Obviously Uncharted is incredible, being cinematic. But there's too much variables on what makes a videogame great to determine which is which.

People are still playing Smash Melee, Brawl not so much, but Sm4sh also a resounding yes. Mario Kart is still as alive as ever. you can easily pick up any Mario game and still have as much fun now as it was when released. There are so many old Nintendo games that are still in circulation.

So if we're talking about content and replayability and games that hold up well, Nintendo got dibs on that award.

I'm not saying they are the best devs out there, but they are definitely up there.

It's all subjective I guess. I just looked at my entertainment stand and counted 24 WiiU exclusive games, and 5 PS4 exclusive games. I love Uncharted and God of War, just not as much as Donkey Kong or Pikmin.

Shadow of the Colossus, though. I don't know. That game is just something else. I actually considered getting a PS3 just to play the remaster haha.

Yeah I guess Nintendo has somehow been able to make the same game with minor tweaks dozens of times and people still eat it up so they must be doing something right.

Are Gears of War and Uncharted not similar in that regard?

Take arms, it'll all blow over Prestigious

Each system has their respective great IPs which is why nintendos struggle for third party support puts them way behind playstation and xbox both.

I'd say out of the three I'm most excited for Sony's exclusives this year.... PERSONA 5!!!!!!!!

And like, it's amazing how many incredible games they've been able to make just centered around Mario, besides platformers. Off the top of my head...

    Paper Mario
    Mario Kart
    Mario Party
    Mario and Luigi

Then all the great Mario sports games (tennis, golf, baseball, soccer)

All of the games based off of Mario characters...

    Luigi's Mansion
    Yoshi's (Island, Wolly World, etc)
    Captain Toad
    Wario Ware

And then even Super Smash. Like, there's just so many damn classic Nintendo games.

But yeah, besides that there's of course...

    Pikmin
    Animal Crossing
    F-Zero
    Metroid
    Fire Emblem
    Kirby

A lot smaller than I expected, which is good because I was hoping it would be.

I think they make software as good as anyone else, Zelda is my favourite franchise but look at it like this, there's been almost six years since Skyward Sword which came out the same year as Dark Souls 1. Since then From Software have put out Dark Souls 2 and 3 and Bloodborne while we're still waiting for BOTW. I'm almost positive BOTW, Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess all took a fair amount longer than they would have done if they weren't ported to new consoles or worked to include motion controls and I don't think any of those things we're worth the wait. In BOTW's case it looks like they actually took out the Wii U gamepad functionality because they wanted it to be on Switch. I like that they try and push the market forward and be innovative but I think they're going about it in the wrong way and focusing on the wrong things. It honestly seems to me like they come up with a gimmick first and then make mini games for it or shoehorn it into a Mario/Zelda game instead of creating the best game they can and then adapting the hardware to make whatever that is possible.

Plus it's not like Sony/Microsoft haven't tried new things, Microsoft went all in in Kinnect which was garbage and Sony tried the Move which no one really wanted. Sony also has VR which is way more forward thinking than Nintendo basically rehashing the Wii.

I don't just want great graphics, I don't care very much about graphics although I would like Nintendo's developers to be able to get as close to their vision as possible and looking at BOTW, it's definitely not on par with the original reveal. What I do want from them is great games that surprise and impress me with the gameplay, not the controller I'm using. Which is what their best games do and too many people don't get to play those games because they're hidden behind Nintendo's hardware.

This is great but most people can't afford more than one console, especially if the second one only puts out 2/3 worthwhile games a year. I was excited for the Switch but after having almost nothing come out for the Wii U for the past two years and then the Switch seemingly only having one exclusive game I care about this whole year I'm so over Nintendo consoles.

When I went to Gamestop to preorder my Switch, they had a whole set of protection stuff to push on me which included a zip up case and a screen protector.

Always hated how gaming consoles in general require so many damn accessories. Always feel like I end up spending another unexpected $150 as soon as I buy a system. Just gotten worse over time.

Not to take away from the Switch conversation but: The 3DS really does have some insanely good games still coming out - Dragon Quest 8 is Friday, then the Yoshi game next month, and the new Mario sports title later this year.

It's really encouraging how amazing the 3DS library is.

What's weird about it? I got a ps4 recently for its exclusives (final fantasy, kingdom hearts, ratchet and clank, uncharted, infamous, etc). I play online and other games on my xb1, and I can play its exclusives as well.

They are starting to get that way I suppose but they each have a fresh story. Mario mainline games have almost always just been going through worlds to collect stars or save the princess or whatever.
